EURO 2020

UEFA EURO 2020

Souvenir Tickets

As all tickets through ESTC were going to be delivered by smart phone app, the spring 2020 application process included the option to request souvenir paper tickets which would be delivered to people's registered address after the tournament.

As we are now having all of our tickets cancelled and refunded, any request for souvenir tickets will also be cancelled and the €15 cost will be included in the refund. This is confirmed in the FA News Bulletin. So, when those members who get tickets in the reduced allocation pay for their tickets, will there be an option to request souvenir tickets again ?

For the Nations League in 2019, UEFA offered the option to request souvenir tickets and many England fans planned to take up this option. The souvenir tickets had to be requested at the time of the ticket application but we weren't told this until after applications closed and I'm pretty sure that this option never appeared on the application page of the ticket website. When people pointed out to UEFA that the option had not been on the web page they were told that the orders couldn't subsequently be changed to include this option.

The 2019 experience makes me suppose that we will not have the option to request souvenir tickets under the proposed system for the reduced ticket allocation. This would be a pity as many ESTC members save their tickets in collections. Imagine England getting to the final and we don't have a paper ticket for the collection.

Guys some good news about this today. It seems that Uefa are going to be selling match tickets on their store website. You will also be able to enter your seat number as well so they are personalized. It looks like you have to pay in Euros though, so worth checking any bank charges first.

    Thanks for that Peter.

I see they are €10 each.

Some of us will have paid €15 for each of the knockouts.

A €5 refund or even better only one €15 charge for all souvenir tickets would be great.

Nothing in the grand scheme of outlay by it would be terrific.

The original €15 in January 2020 was supposed to cover all tickets in the order. With up to 4 people in an order and up to 7 matches, this could be a potential 28 tickets. OK, it's now 24 as we couldn't go to Rome. At €10 per ticket (not per order) that's a lot of wonga. Shipping costs are on top of this, unless you spend at least €75.

Really, UEFA ought to be allowing a 100% discount on orders from fans who paid €15 in January 2020 and who paid €15 again for the group matches in May 2021.

Great spot Peter. Slightly frustrating having paid over £60 for the stubs afterwards I didn’t tick ‘souvenir’ for group games. Having contacted uefa they told me on Thursday no way to retrospectively order.

I’ve clicked the link and searched the site and can only find one match.

I’ve also gone all the way through to checkout and payment as a test and no field to input any personalised match details.

This is something I'll email the ESTC team about post final.

Hopefully they can get us some clarity on refunds and what we should be hoping to receive as UEFA are giving a different message.

If this is the least of our concerns what a tournament!!

The email UEFA sent me just before the final said that souvenir tickets would start to be sent out from last week, with the aim that they would all be sent out by the end of August.

I read into that they may send them out on a match-by-match (order-by-order) basis?

They could send them out in order of account, so you get all tickets in one shipment.  That's quite complex, so I'd be pleasantly surprised if that were the case - good on UEFA if it is!

I regularly get things through the post from Switzerland and they usually take between three to seven days to arrive.

Not sure about a date but UEFA have sent me an email confirming that I should be receiving tickets for all the matches I attended (four in total) after I paid one-off 15 euro fee with Denmark tickets. I contacted travel club after seeing conflicting info on whether one-off fee would cover all tickets or you had to pay for each match. Travel club were great and chased it up with uefa contact who quickly got back to me.

    I hope you're right.

    UEFA told me the opposite.

I had huge problems trying to get them to understand the issue.

    This was their latest email:

    Email starts

    We try to explain again.

Souvenir tickets fee associated to one order. It means that you need to pay for each order that you requested souvenir tickets.

Probably, you were misinformed by FA that you need to pay only once and for other orders you will receive souvenir tickets too. But, it is not correct, you should pay for each order 15€ in order to get Souvenir tickets for matches within that very order, regardless the amount of matches in one order.

We hope it is more clear now.

    Email ends.

I've asked the ESTC for some direction.

I.e. will those that paid each time be receiving a refund and will those who paid just once be receiving all their match tickets.

To be fair I was a bit surprised when uefa got back to me so quickly. They apologised for the ‘misunderstanding’! I’d been in touch with Lewis at the travel club (forwarded him all correspondence I’d had with uefa). He then spoke with his contact at uefa. Email from uefa clearly states I will get a souvenir ticket for all the tickets I purchased. I’ll let you know when the tickets (or ticket!) arrive.

    In reply to Jonathan Reed:

We've had a number of different takes on this. It could be down the language barrier between Europeans and English?

Originally, pre-COVID, most of us purchased all our allocated tickets in one order with a single €15 fee to cover all souvenir tickets in that order, as David said earlier that could amount to 28 tickets!

However, COVID came along and all tickets were cancelled.

I can only speak for myself, but for the group games in the re-ballot process I was initially only allocated a ticket for the Scotland game. For me that was order no. 1.

In a subsequent ballots, I was allocated tickets for the Croatia (order no. 2) and Czech. Republic (access code didn't work - when it did, tickets sold out).

Like everyone else, who was successful, I made two further (separate) orders, one for the semi-final (order no. 3) and one for the final (order no. 4).

I suspect what UEFA are saying is that for my example all tickets per order (one ticket in each of four separate orders) means I had to pay 4x €15 to get a souvenir ticket for each match I attended / order I made.

Were there any members who were allocated a ticket (tickets) initially for all three group games? If so, and you purchased a ticket or tickets for those three group games, yes 1x €15 would cover all tickets within that order!

If it were any other way, when someone made an order for a subsequent match, call it order no. 2, order no. 3 etc, if you'd have ticked the souvenir ticket option (in your first order), then surely it would've been greyed out (in subsequent orders) or some message stating that this account holder had already ordered souvenir tickets and this applies to all purchases?

    In reply to Nigel Pond:

This option wasn't greyed out or any error message created on any of the six orders we made.

Hence we paid the €15 six times.

I admire your optimism with the issue being a simple 'lost in translation' problem but I think it's more down to the UEFA helpers not having much of a clue what was going on.

Their remit seemed to be to get as many questions answered as quickly as possible rather than ensuring they understood the question and knew the answer.
