EURO 2020

UEFA EURO 2020

One person on 18 caps, mates on 4-8 caps each. Apply separate?

Morning guys,

So i'm on 18 caps and my mates are on anything between 4-10 caps respectively.

I want the cheapest possible tickets and i'm not bothered who I sit next to. Should I apply on my own to increase my chances of getting 'fans first' and cat 3 tickets for all games?

Thanks

Paul Revill

All members on an application who are successful in getting a ticket through the FA allocation will be given the same ticket category. This is what the ESTC FAQs say :-

We encourage fans who are on similar caps levels to apply together. However, top and low cappers are encouraged to apply separately and for a different category in order to stand a good chance of being successful.

    For example:

Lead member Ben has 52 caps and applies for category 3 tickets. Jordan and Harry have 16 caps each and apply with Ben for category 3 tickets. It is likely that Ben will be successful in his application but Jordan and Harry will not be allocated tickets (due to their caps level). Therefore, we would strongly advise that Ben apply on his own for category 3 tickets (or with others on a similar caps level) and Jordan and Harry apply separately for a category 1 or 2 ticket (and check the box to say that they would accept a different category). Therefore, all three members have a better chance of being allocated tickets - albeit separately.

You applying separately and then using the group to link groups definitely sounds like the correct method.

You being successful with the cheapest tickets might be a little ambitious though especially for some of the knock out games as there are over 5k members with more caps then you.

We will know more if we get the ticket cat allocation detail but you need to be careful you apply strategically else you may miss out completely on some games.

    The last post in this link shows how many ESTC members have more caps than you as of yesterday;

In the FA’s example would Ben still get his tickets or would all three likely miss out if they applied as a group?

One scenario is that Ben is the only one of the group to be successful. He would get category 3 but his mates would miss out because they should have applied for a more expensive category.

The other scenario is that the group applies for category 2 tickets to improve the chances of Jordan and Harry being successful. But then, if they are successful, Ben ends up paying for more expensive tickets than he could have got away with if he had applied separately.

If they didn't take the FAs advice only Ben would get his.

Thought that was the case. And the rest go into the same ballot where all of them are either successful or not successful. Got a bit confused as to whether it was just them 2 or the whole group that got balloted.

Cheers, hence why category breakdowns would be so useful. Hopefully they’ll turn up before they window closes.
