Euro 2016 FAQs

The UEFA Euro 2016 Finals will be held in France next summer, starting on 10th June. England fans’ best chance of attending matches at the Finals is by becoming an England Supporters Travel Club member, and applying through the FA.

The below FAQs should help to answer questions England fans may have on tickets, membership, match locations and more.

New FAQs answered:

Is there any information regarding the price category splits for England’s Group game stadiums?
We are pleased to advise that we have received some information regarding the category split for each of our group matches. We have not been provided with exact capacity by category, and are now unlikely to receive this before the application deadline on the 18th January, but we can provide some useful information regarding the category split.

For all three matches, the largest allocations are in category 3 with approximately 50% of tickets per match in this category. This is followed by category 2 which has the next largest allocation. Both categories 1 and 4 have the smallest allocations. We would recommend that members apply for either category 2 or 3 in the first instance and then tick the box to accept a ticket in an adjacent category. This will give you the best chance of ensuring that you can access a ticket.

I am experiencing problems during my application through the UEFA website. Can the England Supporters Club help with this? Unfortunately, once you are applying on UEFA’s website, we cannot assist with any queries as we do not control their website, or have access to any of their systems. If you are experiencing problems with your application whilst on UEFA’s website please contact them on from (outside France) +33 1 82 52 2016. Alternatively you can visit UEFA’s FAQs by clicking here.

Can I apply multiple times to increase my chances of being successful? No, this does not increase your chances but instead it may jeopardise them! If you apply more than once then all applications may be cancelled as UEFA will not know which application should remain.

Can I apply for non-Travel Club members? No, you cannot apply for non-Travel Club members – again if non-members are included the entire application may be cancelled.

Can I leave my application until a few days before the closing of the application window on 18th January? We strongly advise you to complete your application by 11th January to allow us and UEFA time to assist with any queries or issues you may have. We cannot guarantee that we will be able to help with any issues after the 11th January.

How will the application process be affected if other members of my group are on different cap levels? Each individual member will be reviewed separately. Some may be guaranteed tickets as a result of their caps level. Those who are not guaranteed tickets will be entered into a ballot. If more than one of you in the group are entered into the ballot then every member of the group will either be successful or unsuccessful.

Do all members of my group need to create an account? No, only the lead member needs to create an account with UEFA. Once an account is created you will then receive an activation code from UEFA which needs to be entered to activate their account and enter the access code sent by the FA. Guests do not need to create an account with UEFA or use their access codes. Only one account and one access code is required per group application.

I have zero caps, will I be successful when applying for Euro 2016 tickets? In the event of the members’ ticket allocation being under-subscribed, Travel Club members will not need to have attended a previous match to access Euro 2016 tickets. We expect England’s opening match in Marseille against Russia on June 11th to be undersubscribed as we have received a large allocation of tickets for this match.

Therefore, you have an excellent chance of gaining tickets for this match. In addition, there is also a good chance of accessing tickets to the third group match against Slovakia in St. Etienne on the 20th June as well as some of the knockout matches further in the tournament. As of the 6th January, only the Wales match and R16 matches are oversubscribed.

However please note, in the event of the members’ ticket allocation being over-subscribed, no tickets will be allocated to Travel Club members who have not attended a single match (home or away) in the 2014-2016 membership period. Please note that the Netherlands match will not qualify for this as the match is due to take place after the ballot will be conducted.

How many caps will I need to be successful for each Group game fixture? We will not know the minimum caps required to be successful for each fixture until we know the total amount of applications we’ll receive for each fixture. This will be known after the application process has closed and will be shared with Travel Club members as soon as we know.

How many tickets will we be allocated for each Group game fixture? For Marseille v Russia 11,000; Lens v Wales 5,000; for Saint Etienne v Slovakia 6,000.

Where can I find my Euro Access Code online? You can view your access code on your ‘My Account’ page which is here. It is under your D.O.B.

I haven’t received my activation email from UEFA, how can I retrieve this? All queries should be directed to UEFA if you are having problems during or after your application process on the UEFA portal. Click here to visit their ticketing FAQs page which has contact details under the ‘Who can answer questions concerning my application’ tab.

How does the application work for each specific price category? You can apply for one price category per match. The prices of each category can be seen in the table further down the FAQs. We expect you to also be able to indicate that you will accept a price category either side of the category you select, in the case your selected category is unavailable or oversubscribed. For example, should you check the box and select Category 3 tickets and it’s unavailable or oversubscribed, you may be moved to Category 2 or Category 4 tickets.

Is there still time to join England Supporters Travel Club and access tickets? We expect to have enough tickets to meet the demand from anyone who wishes to attend the England v Russia match in Marseilles (as we have been allocated 11,000 tickets). Apply and you will likely secure tickets. Upgrade to the Travel Club and we'll send your Euro Access Code soon afterwards which gives you access to the Euro 2016 application portal.

Who can buy tickets for Euro 2016 through the FA? You have to be a member of the England Supporters Travel Club. To become a member of the Travel Club, join the England Supporters Club and upgrade to the Travel Club.

Can I buy tickets through UEFA? There are no plans for a general sale period through UEFA.

What are “caps”? Members of The England Supporters Club earn "caps" for attending England home games, with two caps awarded for each home game attended. Members of the England Supporters Travel Club earn two caps for each home game and a further two caps for away games they attend with tickets purchased via the FA/England Supporters Travel Club.

I am an England Supporters Travel Club member, how can I apply for tickets? The Euro 2016 Draw will take place on 12 December and the ticket application process for Travel Club members is due to commence at 11am on Monday 14th December until 11am on 18th January. The Draw will determine where we will play our matches, who our opposition will be and our ticket allocations for each fixture.

When and where will I be able to apply for tickets? We will email each England Supporters Travel Club member a unique access code on Monday 14 December and the link to the ticket application portal to apply for Euro 2016 tickets. The unique code will allow entry to the portal on the UEFA website. Even though you are applying through the UEFA website, please be assured you will be applying for the England Supporters Travel Club application. UEFA require all participating nations to manage their ticket process through their website.

Do we know how many tickets we are allocated for each fixture? UEFA have advised that we’ll receive the following allocations if we are to be drawn at the below venues.

In addition to the above members’ allocation, the FA will receive a separate allocation of 1,000 tickets per match for specific use by the Football Family. The Football Family group includes players’ family & friends, football clubs, county FAs and other related groups.

If our opposition do not sell their additional tickets and our allocation is oversubscribed then again, we may receive a larger allocation.

If the applications for a match exceed the ticket allocation, what happens? Should demand for tickets exceed the FA’s allocation for a particular game, it will be necessary to conduct a ballot using the caps system. The ballot system is explained below:
• 70% of the ticket allocation for each England game will be offered to the Travel Club members with the highest number of caps.
• 20% will be balloted to Travel Club members who have missed out on the 70% allocation. Members eligible for this ballot will be Travel Club members who have attended at least two away games and four home games within the 2014-2016 membership period.
• 10% will be balloted to all Travel Club members who missed out in the 70% allocation and the 20% ballot.*

*In the event of the members’ ticket allocation being over-subscribed, no tickets will be allocated to Travel Club members who have not attended a single match (home or away) in the 2014-2016 membership period. In the event of the members’ ticket allocation being under-subscribed, Travel Club members will not need to have any caps to access Euro 2016 tickets.

What types of tickets are available and how much do they cost? For each match, tickets will be available across four price categories.

All tickets for disabled supporters will be sold at the price of Category 4 tickets (i.e. the lowest price category) regardless of the allocation in the stadium.

Where are the different categories in the stadiums? Tickets for Euro 2016 are generally split in four different positions within the stadium. The precise location of the categories will depend on the exact layout of each particular stadium:

Following the Draw we’ll receive information regarding the splits of tickets by price and Category for each Stadium England will play in. This information will be made available on the website to help you make an informed decision for your application.

Can I apply for a specific price category? You can apply for one price category per match.

Can I also apply for tickets to the Knockout rounds, should England progress? Yes, you must apply for all tickets at the same time. Please note that the tickets for the Knockout stages will only be valid should England progress. At the time of purchase, you will have Group tickets and Knock-out tickets as one payment. In the instance of not progressing to the Knock-out phase, your money for Knock-out tickets will be refunded back to you shortly after the tournament.

Can I apply for non-England tickets through the FA? No, only England tickets will be made available through the FA. Please also note that you are not allowed to apply for 2 matches that take place on the same day.

Is there any discount for children/other groups? There are no discounted ticket prices for children regardless of their age, or other groups. There is no minimum age for children attending a match. However, please note that entry to the stadium will only be possible on presentation of a valid ticket for each person, regardless of age.

Are tickets available for Disabled spectators? Disabled tickets are available for each Euro 2016 match for wheelchair users for Travel Club members, through the same ticket and ballot process as standard tickets. Disabled spectator ticket applicants are required to provide proof of disability. Are there any Travel Packages available, if I am successful with tickets? The England Supporters Travel Club’s travel partners are Thomson Sport. They will be offering travel packages to all England matches, details of these are to be confirmed.

When will I know the results of the application process? The application process closes at 11am on 18th January. Shortly after this date UEFA will send the FA all details of all applications. If a match is oversubscribed the FA will run a ballot in accordance to the membership rules. If undersubscribed, then assuming we have enough tickets in each Category, then everyone will be successful.

The FA will send ballot results to UEFA and they will then communicate results to each member via email. We expect this process to be concluded by the end of January 2016.

When will payment be taken? We expect UEFA to take payment for all successful applications a few days after the announcement of the results. Please note UEFA will only make 1 attempt to take full payment for all tickets. Should this payment fail due to insufficient funds or for any other reason, UEFA have advised they will not allow a 2nd payment. In this instance your ticket application process will be cancelled.

Therefore we urge all members to ensure that they have sufficient funds to cover all possible ticket scenarios that could be allocated to them as per their application. We recommend you to contact your bank in advance to advise them of this pending transaction.

Will tickets be posted or will I need to collect them in France? For Group matches tickets will be posted to the Group leader by UEFA shortly before the tournament, however in accordance with the FA’s security procedures a number of members’ will be selected to collect their Group stage tickets in person in France

For Knock-out matches (should we progress), each individual will be required to collect their tickets in person in France.

I have more questions, who can I contact to ask them? Please email our Customer Services team at englandsupportersclub@thefa.com and they will respond to your question.
