EURO 2020

UEFA EURO 2020

Accepting other price categories

Am I right that if you tick the box to accept tickets in another catergory it applies to ALL matches and all members on your application form so you can't pick and choose which specific matches you are happy to accept in a different catergory ticket?  Since the updated ticket application advice from the FA seems to suggest on certain matches you should tick to accept different categories based on your caps level; however on the UEFA ticket portal I can only find an option which seems to apply to ALL matches rather than for each individual fixture?

Many thanks for any clarification/help!

You need to remember the top 70% rule though, not just the number of people above you.

Thanks for the reply Anthony and that's what I've tried to do, but am a little unsure of how the FA intend to do the allocation in regards to the 70/20/10 split; will they do one 70/20/10 and then allocate in order of caps, or will they do a 70/20/10 for each category individually. For example...

If they do one 70/20/10 split only at the start:

I have 14 caps which would put me in the top 6709 members. This means I would require an allocation of 9584 tickets to fall into the top 70%. As the SF and Final both have allocations of 10K+ I would definitely fall inside the 70% and be guaranteed a ticket for both games. If they then allocate in order of caps, as we have allocations of over 7000 tickets in Cat FF & 3, I would be okay for cat 3 by being in the top 6709 fans.

However, if they do 70/20/10 for each category, it then leaves me a little less sure how I would sit in the order.

It would make sense to do it the way I have stated, as that would mean the top 70% would all be guaranteed a ticket, and should all be guaranteed either FF/Cat 3... the only issue arising if one of the bottom half of the top 70% selected FF only without the willingness to be bumped up. The issue with doing it this way is they then are left having to allocate the 20% and 10% which would presumably be made up of only Cats 1 & 2, and might not have enough applicants to fill the allocation and be left with tickets to hand back.

I don't suppose anyone has spoke with the FA about the process for the allocation and how the 70/20/10 split works in relation to the category splits? thet would make things a lot easier for calculating this

On another thread David Lilley says he has spoken to them and was told it is one 70/20/10 split and not by category.

    In reply to Luke Sadler:

As far as I can work out, for the semi final you need 20 caps to absolutely guarantee being in the 70%. For the final it's 19 caps. Likely to be lower in practice because not everyone will apply and some will have tickets through UEFA sale already. So on 14 caps you are not guaranteed a ticket.

If you do make it into the 70% then you will be guaranteed fans first / cat 3 for the semi final because there are 7,140 tickets available and 7,081 people in the 70% and almost guaranteed for the final (7,140 tickets for 7,428 people.) But if you do not make the caps cut-off for the 70%, you will be in a ballot. In that case you have little to no chance of a cat 3 ticket as they will almost all have been taken up by the 70% (assuming that most people apply for the lowest prices.)

    In reply to Doug Fenner:

Thanks for the replies fellas and pointing me in the direction of David's posts.

In that case as far as I'm not missing something, considering that more than 70% of the tickets available are in Cats FF & 3, everyone who gets into the 70% will also get Cat FF/3 for the SF and Final. Which is great news!

    In reply to Luise Wigmore:

How did you make the cut off at 19/20 caps? I've obviously missed something there. I made our allocation out to be minimum of 10K tickets, which would make the 70% cut off at 7k members which is 13 caps?

Glad to see you've come to the same conclusion regarding the allocation though.... those in the 70% should be okay for FF/Cat 3 as 70% of the total tickets is made up of those

Is that calculation of 20 caps for the final and 19 for the semis that you’ve worked out for someone picking fans first and ticking the box go up a category to category 3
