The England Supporters Travel Club needs you!

Posted by Team England at 15:53 on Thursday 07 September 2017

Update 21st September:

We have now received a sufficient number of applications for the ESTC Fan Forum and will be contacting those who have successfully been chosen to take part by the end of the week. The website will be updated with the questions and answers raised from the forum in due course.

We are looking for 10 Travel Club members who attend England matches both home and away to help us form a ‘fan group’ to provide feedback on the current membership.

We would like to hold a forum to discuss any current issues that the members wish to raise on behalf of the wider membership base. The meeting will also provide participants with the opportunity to suggest any changes or proposals for the next membership scheme which is due to start in July 2018.

If you are interested in being a part of this fan group, please email your details to englandsupportersclub@thefa.com together with a short description of any topics you wish to discuss.

The date and location of the ‘fan group’ meeting will be based on the respondents location.

Please be aware that this forum is only open to current Travel Club members over the age of 18.

Since August 2012 , that's 5 years covering 64 games, we have played at home on Saturday TWICE. The most recent home game was played on the day school children returned to school. Have you worked it out yet why there were 23,000 empty seats on Monday???? 154 years of the FA and still no one can get it right.

I echo that around the home games. saturday afternoons make it so much easier to attend No matter where in the country you are. As things stand I don't go many at home because it's hard getting back up north and don't always want to stay over it costs far too much

Please remember when discussing Saturday afternoon games that lower league clubs do not have international breaks. I have a season ticket and I'd like to use it!

@Chris Hewitt, the dates for competitive games are set by UEFA, not the FA.

I'd consider it, but there's no way you can please everyone, so you'd just get criticized by fellow members! Some comments on here want games on Saturday afternoons, but those supporting teams below Championship will have their own teams to support, still.

Andrew Hookway.  Your right about lower league teams having matches on those days.  I support Cambridge, but  unlike you would welcome to opportunity for a break from watching the negative, ultra cautious, tedium that is being a Cambridge supporter at the moment, for a chance to watch, the negative, ultra cautious, tedium that is being an England supporter for the last 4 years.  (Country before Club)

In any event, at least half of the home fixtures could be on a Saturday afternoon, not 3% as it has been for the last 5 years. If you are from the midlands, north or south west it is impossible to get home by train after a weekday evening match (unless, ironically you are in Scotland and can take the sleeper) and it is expensive to stay the night in London, especially on match days. Dates may be set by FIFA or UEFA but does the FA have no say in discussing dates?

As members of the Travel CLUB, we all pay our membership fee but what for? Yes we have the FA negotiating various bits and bobs behind the scenes but little communication via OUR OWN WEBSITE or an active members section of this website where important items are notified or discussed where concerns are monitored and addressed by a FA representative.

This items title is for TRAVEL CLUB (Away Support) members but most concerns so far revolve around games at Wembley, we pay to be represented when playing abroad but this is far from what happens therefore, Home and Away caps should be separate and only AWAY caps to count when allocating tickets for away games, for fairness the 70/30% split for tickets available could remain but more regular away supporters would not be disappointed as often as now.

TRANSPORT at away venues is usually sketchy like in Malta, we were told the last public transport would be at half time, some of us booked with firms like On the Ball Travel and Sports Options months before the game, others privately booked taxis etc at high prices, it was a surprise when exiting the stadium we were confronted with many Bus Specials - This is an area that needs tightening up.

MEDICAL TREATMENT - Whilst in Malta due to a faulty window in my apartment my arm was cut, I needed basic first aid the hotel said we will call the hotel doctor and I would have to pay (the hotel was responsible) I said NO and produced my EHIC card for a hospital I could visit for basic treatment, the hotel then agreed to pay for a taxi to a PRIVATE hospital where an assessment would take place, and recommended treatment take place and I would still have to pay, there was no first aid trained person in the hotel, after digging my heels in a first aid box was produced and with the help of a receptionist a d.i.y job was done.

AS FAR AS ANYONE was concerned the EHIC card was useless. I think the FA may have 8000 travel club members that's revenue in the region of £600,000 surely that generates enough revenue to have full time cover improving the experiences of all the members and communication with the Minister for Sport to ensure members can safely travel supporting the team and receive basic treatment at a hospital without being discarded, we should be treated equally like those visiting these shores. All insurance companies ask if you produced your EHIC card before treatment commenced.

PREFERRED TRAVEL COMPANY -  Why do we get lumbered with companies charging double the prices others like those I have used and mentioned earlier? - If we had a well thought out website private operators could advertise FREE OF CHARGE links to what they have to offer.

Can we just abort Wembley please. Every one agrees. It's atmosphere is awful. Stop the popcorn sales and clamp down on Mexican waves.

The Fa won't read these but hear goes. I live in Wales and am a proud Englishman but how the hell do I travel to Wembley on a week day? It's either a days holiday or lose a days pay. But hey ho don't you worry.
