Lithuania v England: Ballot results

Posted by Team England at 09:44 on Tuesday 25 July 2017

The ballot for tickets to the Lithuania v England match on Sunday 8 October has now been completed and emails will be sent out shortly to all who registered their interest.

We have been allocated 1757 tickets in total by the Lithuanian FA with 2802 members registering their interest. The caps cut-off was 32 to be guaranteed a ticket.

Successful applicants

You will be able to purchase your ticket from 12pm Friday 28 July until 3pm Monday 31 July. You can purchase your ticket by calling the England Supporters Club ticket line on 0844 847 2010 or via www.thefa.com/tickets.

Please be aware that group bookings are limited to a maximum of 4 members per group and each person will need to be a Travel Club member who was successful in the ballot. If you wish to be seated as a group, please book your seats in one order by providing the Travel Club fan number and dates of birth of each member of your group. We will not be able to add further seats to a booking at a later date.

If you have not received an email or wish to check your application status, click here: https://www.thefa.com/england-supporters/travel-club-tickets-matches

Unsuccessful applicants

If you still wish to attend the match but were not allocated a ticket via the ballot due to your caps level, there is a 2nd chance sale which begins at 12pm on Tuesday 1 August. Any tickets that go unclaimed in the first sale will be made available to Travel Club members on a first-come, first-served basis.

If you forgot to register your interest in a ticket for this fixture, we cannot retrospectively add you into the ballot now that it has been conducted. If you forgot to register for any reason, you will need to purchase a ticket in the 2nd chance sale.

Wheelchair accessible tickets

ESTC members who were successful in the ballot and registered for wheelchair accessible seating should call us directly on 0800 389 1966 between 12pm Friday 28 July and 3pm Monday 31 July.

Ticket prices

We have received an allocation of 43 tickets priced at £36 and 1714 tickets priced at £32.

Update: 171 tickets will be located in one block along the touchline (this includes the 43 £36 tickets and 128 tickets priced at £32). The remaining allocation of tickets will be located in the adjacent blocks behind the goal. Those who wish to sit in the small allocation along the touchline are advised to select 'Pitch View' or 'category 1' tickets when purchasing via the website or via Ticketmaster.

Wheelchair accessible tickets are £32 with the companion ticket included.

All members will be required to collect their tickets in person in Lithuania, with full collection details to follow nearer to the match.

Travel Club members are reminded that these tickets are for personal use only and are non-transferable to either members or non-members under any circumstance.

Members are also reminded that they have until 21 days before the match to cancel their ticket in writing and receive a refund. A £3 cancellation fee per ticket will be applied and we politely request that if a member is unable to attend after purchasing a ticket, to let us know as soon as possible.

Ballot information

For further details on how a ballot is conducted, please refer to this previous news story here: https://englandsupporters.thefa.com/b/news/archive/2017/01/11/estc-update-away-match-ballots-explained

We will not be operating a waiting list for this match until after both sale periods have been completed. Members who email us before the 2nd chance sale to be placed on a waiting list will not be considered; we advise those who missed out first time around to try the 2nd chance sale first.

you can buy up to 4 for those who have been successful - but only the named persons can pick up their individual ticket - so basically you all have to go to the collection point

    Dear Team England.

2,802 applying/registering for this game seems a large number to me.

I wonder how many of the 1,757 will take up their tickets and how many will end up in the 2nd chance sale? For Slovakia (a similar allocation) almost 20% didn't take up their tickets, I think it may be even higher for this game. You may have read some of threads ("Applying for the sake of it",etc) about the process and calls for action against those not taking up their tickets, and calls for a change to the process. There are pros & cons as well as the practicality of being able to do something BUT in my humble opinion we are getting to the stage where something needs to be done.

It is very frustrating for travel club members who miss out on the 70% cut off by one or two caps, especially when hundreds do not take up their tickets - of course we never know how many of those were above the cut off and therefore would have affected it.

Let's see what happens this time, but if the "non take up" rate is >20% then I think that we need to find a better solution.

    Further to Martin Parkes' suggestion:

If you do want to propose a change to the current system, please put your proposal to members for consultation. The principle of the 70% / 30% rule is excellent and we do not want to throw out the baby with the bath water.

I agree that we are getting to the stage where something has to be done about the high percentage of fans not taking up there tickets. As Martin says we don't know how many of these are above the cut off therefore affect those who just missed out. The FA will know though when the sales periods end, so maybe at this stage they could say that the cut off for example for the up coming game against Lithuania would have been 30 instead of 32 (hypothetically) and open up a 24 hour window for all those who applied and would have guaranteed a ticket but missed out before offering the remaining tickets in a general first come first served sale period.

At least this way it doesn't affect the 30% who are just starting out and trying to get up the caps table, but would guarantee a ticket to all those who would have been in the genuine/real top 70% if they want one.

The main issue is that the process is labelled as "Register your interest". That's what people are doing - saying they are interested. There's never been a commitment to buy a ticket. The FA need to consider re-naming the process at the very minimum to make it less about "being interested" and more about "intending to buy".
