ESTC Update: Away match ballots explained

Posted by Team England at 13:34 on Wednesday 11 January 2017

ESTC 2016-2018 members still have until Monday 16 January at 5pm to register their interest in a ticket to the Scotland match. Members can register individually or in groups of up to four by clicking here.

In the event that the Scotland match is oversubscribed, please note the following information regarding the ballot process:

Away match ballots

If an away match is oversubscribed, I.e. the number of members who have registered their interest in the game is greater than the allocation we have received, the tickets will be allocated in the following way:

70% of the ticket allocation will be offered to the ESTC members with the highest number of caps. The number of caps you will require to qualify for the top 70% of the ticket allocation will depend on: (i) the number of members at the relevant time who have applied for the match; and (ii) the size of our allocation for that game. The remaining 30% of the ticket allocation will be balloted to all remaining members who registered their interest.

When registering in a group, please note the following:

• You will need the FAN number and date of birth for each member you wish to register in your group.

• Regardless of caps totals of those in your group, members who are in the top 70% of those who registered will be guaranteed a ticket for the match.

• Members of the group who fall outside the top 70% will be entered into the ballot.

• All group members entered into the ballot will either be made successful or unsuccessful; the caps level for each member will not be a factor once they are entered into the ballot.

• If you have previously registered yourself but now wish to register in another member's group, you will need to un-register yourself via the same web page and the lead applicant of the group will need to add you in to their registration.

Please note that we will confirm the full ticketing details for the Scotland match shortly after the registration period closes.

Thank you for this clarification. If this is the normal procedure then perhaps Section 6.2 of the Rules of Membership could be altered to incorporate this statement.

I understand the number of tickets allocated to Scotland for the Wembley fixture approximated to 15% of the ground capacity. Is this correct ? If so, the Scottish FA should be asked to reciprocate. An allocation of 15% of Hampden Park would be enough to allow all ESTC members who register an interest to get a ticket.

    Still could be improved:

    - Methods to ensure people who register for a ballot actually want to go. You lose a cap say if you don't

    - Second chance sale only available to people who failed in the 1st ballot.

No what I'm saying is IF you register and you are SUCCESSFUL and then DONT go, then you lose cap.

Perhaps after the 3rd offence, as you say, the 1st time is unfair.
