EURO 2020

UEFA EURO 2020

Ticket problems as others tailgated in unchecked

What a fiasco.

We got to the COVID check at 18.30 but no one was checking covid status or activating tickets.
We found a guy outside gate D who activated our tickets, then went to gate C to get in. There were loads of young guys trying to tailgate and no stewards stopping them. I got Into the stadium ok but my partner didn’t.

The steward had no idea where to tell my partner where to go to fix his ticket problem. They were not helping genuine ticket holders nor where they stopping the tailgaters. There were lots of people with legitimate tickets that wouldn’t work. At the ticket office they appeared to know they had a problem and eventually gave my partner a paper ticket. Other people at the ticket office had received emails saying their accounts had been hacked.  Was this a computer glitch, had UEFA been hacked, did someone clone / sell the OCR codes?

Did anyone else have the same problem with their ticket? My ticket said “activated manually” my partners ticket said “Activated: G gateVIP”.  We activated them by Gate D at the same time.

Whilst waiting for my partner to get a ticket I watched the same guys sneaking in, being thrown out and trying again and again. A very upset guy complained to the head steward saying they are sitting in our seats and they don’t have tickets. What is even more shocking is one of the stewards gave a thumbs up to one of the tailgaters when he successfully got in! There were far more people than tickets sold.

I am going to complain as lessons need to be learnt, but I doubt if anyone will listen.
