World Cup ticket applications update

Posted by Team England at 19:02 on Friday 08 December 2017

Travel Club members who are on different caps levels and are considering submitting an application for World Cup tickets may want to consider the following information.

We would encourage fans that are on similar caps levels to apply together. However; top and low cappers are encouraged to apply separately and for a different category in order to have a good chance of being successful.

For example:

Lead member Tom has 52 caps and applies for category 3 tickets. Dick and Harry have 6 caps each and apply with Tom for category 3 tickets. It is likely that Tom will be successful in his application but Dick and Harry will not be allocated tickets (due to their caps level). Therefore, we would strongly advise that Tom apply on his own for category 3 tickets (or with others on a similar caps level) and Dick and Harry apply separately for a category 1 or category 2 ticket (and check the box to say that they would accept a lower priced ticket). Therefore, all three members have a good chance of being allocated tickets albeit separately.

Selecting a lower category

Similarly, we have received several queries from members enquiring about the tick box for selecting a different category (should their original category option be full). The location of this tick box is within the final step of the application in the "Confirm Application" page. Members are reminded that FIFA have only given the option for applicants to move down a category - not up, If your first choice is category 3, this tick box will not appear at the final step as category 4 tickets are only available to Russian residents. Please also be mindful that if you select category 1 or 2 tickets and do not select the tick box and the original category you have opted for is full, you may miss out altogether.

Subject to allocation, we would advise those on a high level of caps e.g. 40+, that they would have a good chance of being allocated category 3 tickets, whereas a member on a low level of caps e.g. 6, would have a better chance of being allocated a category 1 or 2 ticket (and selecting the option to be moved down a category) rather than a category 3 ticket.

We are hoping to obtain the precise allocation for each of England's group matches and the category split from FIFA within the next few weeks. Once we have received this information, we will update the website and FAQ page accordingly.

What if a mixed application had already been submitted?

What about mid level cappers. E.g 25-35?

As with South Africa, locals will be selling Cat 4 tickets cheaper than the FA allocation.

I believe that you can amend your application until the end of the application window. After that it's final & you can't.
