It is when you go through Wembley on the way to work every day it's like Covid never happened

We are due to go from Step 3 to Step 4 of the Road Map on 21st June. The government has so far given a week's notice of going from one step to the next. So, on 14th June, we will be told whether the legal restrictions on gatherings will be removed.

My opinion is that the FA will inform UEFA on 14th June that Wembley can take a higher capacity, probably 50%. The ESTC will conduct a new ballot for extra tickets to the 3rd group match. When the R16, SF and Final come around, there will be a larger crowd than the 25% minimum which has been guaranteed to UEFA.

There doesn't seem to be anything in the legislation preventing 100% crowds at Wembley after 21st June but I think that UEFA and the FA will voluntarily be cautious.

    In reply to David Lilley:

In this scenario, what do you think the FA will do regarding the original ballot that has taken place? For example there might be a member who under the previous ballot just missed out on category 3 tickets, and ended up with category 2, however with the new allocation would be eligible for a category 3 ticket. I assume it would be too much work for the FA to completely re run the ballot, taking into account the need to refund people etc?

Personally I think UEFA has had our money that long that another 3 months wouldn’t make any difference and just treat every game as it comes

If you didn’t get a tkt that you paid for after the ballot you get a refund that way everyone who had a ticket still has one if and when capacity allows

    In reply to Andrew McCarthy:

It's probably worth putting this scenario to Team England and asking what they would do.

If you are offered and accept a category 1/2 ticket in the first ballot and then more tickets become available I doubt that you would be allowed to toss your ticket back into the mix in the hope of getting a category 3 ticket in the second ballot. On the other hand, if you turned down the category 1/2 ticket offered from the first ballot I think you would be automatically included in the second ballot. That's just my opinion. I don't have an inside track.

There will also be the possibility that pubs will be full to overflowing but stadiums will be 1/4 full . Kind of expecting our populist government to “ride to the rescue “ around the end of May cos “Boris cares about the fans “ and suddenly the stadiums will be full .

Thats whats so frustrating about the Uefa ballot. One ballot and then they refund your money if your not lucky. Any tickets that subsequently become available will be on open sale according to an email I have seen from uefa.

I've just read a report on Sky News that, following the Wembley test events, the FA is hoping that the government will permit Wembley to be 50% full for the semi-finals and final. This means 45000 for each match. Apparently, an independent research team is reporting directly to the Department for Culture Media and Sport regarding the outcome of the test events.

This is being presented as good news but it's a let down for medium and low cappers. Why are the 3rd group match and the Wembley R16 not being considered for 45000 spectators too ? These matches will happen after we have entered Step 4 of the Road Map on 21st June and confirmation of this date is likely to be given on 14th June. Surely that gives enough time to allocate and sell the extra seats. After all, 'follow my team' tickets are going to be allocated and sold over a shorter time frame.

Or perhaps this is being considered and the Sky Sports journalist has just had tunnel vision regarding the semi-final and final.

How long does it take to moderate comments? I left one saying yes that the FA should be pushing for 100% capacity from June 21st onwards (if not sooner) and it appears to have been censored

Crazy that in a tournament where 6 out of England's 7 games could be at 90k capacity Wembley my best chance of getting a ticket as a travel club member with only 9 caps (Still pretty good effort as I live in the US) is if we end up finishing 3rd in the group and then get drawn to play in Budapest (full capacity 67k) and then Baku (50% = 34k).

I had tickets to all the group games - now a pitiful 3% chance of keeping these and a follow my team for the semi-final which has been canceled! Absolute joke.

As you live in the USA, I salute you for getting to any England matches. Forgive me if I'm telling you something you already know, but you need to check carefully the country entry requirements for your journeys from the US to England and back.

The UK government intends to employ a traffic light system for entry based on the state of the coronavirus situation in the country of origin. They have not yet published which countries will be on which list. If the USA is on the amber or red lists, you will have to go into quarantine for 10 days on arrival in the UK.

    www.cntraveller.com/.../traffic-light-system-travel-green-countries

According to the official UK government website, most British nationals cannot enter the USA and its territories if they have been in the UK, Ireland, Schengen zone, Iran, Brazil, China, or South Africa within the previous 14 days. It's not clear whether this would be different for a British national with US residency.

Hopefully today’s news that social distancing may no longer be needed at large events after June 21st will mean a dramatic increase in capacity for the second round and semi/ final games. Also potentially the last group game against the Czechs.

    In reply to David Lilley:

Yes thanks David. Im a dual national now (got US citizenship a few years back) so entry to either country cant actually be denied but definitely hoping that the high vaccination rate in both countries mean that they start to normalise travel arrangements by the start of june and putting each other on green lists or whatever each party calls them. I am also fully vaccinated (for the sole purpose of attending the Euros) so hoping that there is some kind of credit given for that when traveling between the countries.

Part of what I wrote in my (apparently censored) message was that here in California which has been very cautious on all things COVID they are allowing 70% capacity at baseball games if you have been vaccinated, can produce a negative covid test or proof of prior infection. Seems like that could be a great way to coax more people to getting vaccinated and to get more fans at the games.

Yes if the government (and its scientists) are not restricting events after 21st June then why is the FA not opening Wembley at 100%? They know more than the Govt/Science?
