UEFA EURO 2020

Refundable flights

Having read the posts about booking with Opodo and taking their insurance to ensure refundable tickets I decided to search for flights to Copenhagen and St Petersburg. Eventually I used Expedia. On the front page under advance options is a tick box for refundable flights. Having checked this and started the search it returned flights which I then selected. On the final page before paying there was confirmation that the flights could be canceled and refunded. A bell went off in my head and I paused and rang customer support to confirm the details. They found the same flights I had selected and then after a few minutes said that they could NOT offer these as refundable flights and the only way to do this was to book direct with the airline.

I have now booked directly with the airline and the ticket code is the same as the Expedia flights but now they are fully refundable. Confirmed after speaking to the airline.

So the message is clear. Be very careful when using the travel websites. Even if the agents (Expedia) have a refundable ticket, it may not be refundable. Check, check and check again.
