Jordan Nobbs named Women's Player of the Year

Posted by Team England at 09:56 on Friday 03 March 2017

Lionesses star Jordan Nobbs expressed delight at being named Women’s Player of the Year at the London Football Awards.

The midfielder played a key role as Arsenal won the SSE Women’s FA Cup last May and she also helped England qualify unbeaten for Euro 2017.

Nobbs said: “It’s an unbelievable feeling.

“To be nominated is great but to go on and win it is a proud moment.

“I’ve really enjoyed the last year with Arsenal and England and hopefully there’s more to come from me.”

The 24-year-old joined Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante and Spurs duo Hugo Lloris and Dele Alli on the winners’ podium at an event which saw Three Lions legend Frank Lampard pick up the Outstanding Contribution to London Football award.

Nobbs, who scored against France in the opening match of the SheBelieves Cup on Wednesday, won her award ahead of Arsenal team-mate Danielle Carter and Chelsea trio Karen Carney, Eniola Aluko and Katie Chapman.

She added: “They are all top players who I look up to, so to even be a part of that group and win is an incredible achievement for me.

“I’m very grateful to everyone from England and Arsenal that has helped me along the way.”
