Thanks for the update there was a large number of fans who somehow ended up in the general portal, it really was not clear.

I was one of them and I have many caps- are the FA going to act on behalf of the numerous England fans effected by trying to obtain more tickets at reasonable prices for these individuals?

    Many Thanks
    Tom

    In reply to Thomas Smith:

There are going to be quite a few members who do not pay for their tickets. What the FA need to do is to persuade UEFA to allow England fans in the general public sale to have first option on these tickets. Perhaps the general public sale ballots should be delayed until after 5th February so that these unpaid tickets can be included.

Is this a much wider issue than first thought or just a small group who have fallen foul of this portal? I don’t have Facebook so not sure what’s been said on the forum.

I don't imagine there will be that many left over and any unpaid tickets are likely to be cat1 tickets. I was virtually guaranteed cheaper tickets due to my caps number. Will have to wait and see what happens.

If it were me and I were approaching the FA it would be in a very humble way - accepting that it was, almost certainly, my mistake and be taking any ticket available.

That's my two penneth worth on this.

Genuinely good luck to those individuals affected.

I agree with you 100% Matthew on the approach you are suggesting.

I'm not sure that a "UEFA have screwed up" approach will cut the mustard.

Hi, I have 28 caps and the cut off for cat 3 QF was 19. Instead I was awarded cat 2 for QF at a higher cost. Any special reason for that? I know I am lucky to have the game(s) I asked for but am a bit out of pocket as a result of the higher price category. Gary

I am in the same position. I have been to the majority of tournaments since Germany 2006 and never made a mistake. Now I’m awaiting general ballot results instead of being guaranteed tickets.
I have contacted England fans who are hopeful of extra allocation which will be based on CAPs. I have also contacted UEFA to explain nicely and I’m awaiting a reply.
Hoping for a common sense approach for those of us who have made a genuine mistake

Regarding members inadvertently entering the general public sale portal instead of the England fans portal, exactly the same thing happened during the Nations League ticket sales. It simply ought not to be possible for a normal intelligent person to make such an error. The ticket sales system ought to be designed in such a way that it's actually difficult to go wrong. Instead, the opposite is true. Even after the event, it's not apparent to members what they did wrong to end up in the wrong part of the ticketing website.

UEFA really ought to sit up and take notice. We, the fans, are their customers and they're responsible for the ticketing system. This really shouldn't be a difficult problem to resolve. Maybe when you enter the general public sale portal the initial screen should be :

You are entering the portal for ticket sales to the general public. If you wish to purchase tickets from the allocation of your national football association, exit from this portal and consult your national FA about how to enter the portal for their allocation of tickets.

EXIT               PROCEED to General Public Sale

Perhaps the FA can raise this issue with UEFA.

    From the latest update:

Made a mistake with your application?

We provided members with a step-by-step guide for submitting their application for tickets in The FA's allocation. If you didn't follow that process and went through UEFA's general public sale, you may have found that your application was unsuccessful. Of the 17,377 members who applied for England tickets we are only aware of 26 members who applied through the incorrect route

    In reply to Matthew Isle:

I think the ESTC team should get credit for setting up a waiting list for the members who missed out in this way. If there genuinely are only 26, I would think there is an excellent chance that the ESTC team will find tickets for them, though not necessarily in the category they want. It still remains to be seen how many members will not pay for their tickets. Whilst there is no rule that such unsold tickets are offered first to the FA for redistribution, I'm sure the FA will be lobbying for first dibs.

massive kudos to them for acting quickly and efficiently, they have been very good for a few years now.

Just a quick one don't suppose anyone knows- I'm super paranoid about getting anything on my application even a tiny bit wrong.

Where it asks for a request ID from original application, is that the group ID? I can't see any other ID that it could be?

    I agree David.

The ESTC staff are doing a great job here. Both in explaining the scope of the issue and offering, potential, light at the end of tunnel.

You cannot have anything but admiration how they are handling this as, I imagine, some understandably, very irate members will have been contacting them.

Hopefully they are reading this, and your thread, where scores of people have been appreciative of their work.

Could I just ask about the Waiting List.
Will I be able to apply for a Round of 16 should England finish 1st or 2nd.
I did not originally apply as I have the round of 16 in Glasgow ( England could come 3rd ) in the future.
    Kind regards Edward David.
