EURO 2020

UEFA EURO 2020

Application

Little bit disappointed to be unsuccessful with my Euro 2020 application, even though I upgraded to Category 2 as well which was recommended. Kind of feels I've thrown £75 away for membership … When are the Austria away tickets released? That will make up for it in a small way.

If you ticked the box to accept higher cat you should have got all 3 group games if you did tick it you could have done something wrong on your application to make it void

I upgraded to ESTC and applied for the group games in cat 2 and was successful but had my tickets upgraded to cat 1. Also attending both friendlies in March at £20 a ticket and hopeful of Austria as well so worth the late upgrade for sure!

I done the same as you Matt. I picked Category 3 and upgraded to Category 2 for Croatia and whoever we receive in the play-offs. At the time there were still a lot of Category 2 available so I thought by upgrading I would stand a chance (I done this for France in 2016 and was successful).

Having just 4 caps was always going to be dependent on the ballot.

The £75 covers two years of qualifying. During that period you attended two home games. The tickets were allocated to those who’ve attended more, home and away. I wouldn’t feel disappointed, that’s the way it should be. I’m sure we can all agree on that. Unfortunately, I think you should have gone for Cat 2 with the possibility of going up to Cat 1 to guarantee tickets.

With regards to Austria, the timing and allocation will depend on their national football association. I’m hoping they will be more efficient than some I could name and we will be sorted a good couple of months before hand. As for allocation, I think the general assumption is that we should get a big enough one to satisfy demand - so everyone who applies will get a ticket, but it’s just before a tournament so if we don’t then you’ll be depending on the ballot due to your low cap total. Fingers crossed we get a big enough allocation.

It’s a process but if you stick with it and build up your cap total in the next membership period (even if Qatar won’t require many, if any caps) then you’ll be in a good place for 2024 (caps built up between Euro 2020 and Qatar 2022 will count for 2024).

Ok cheers for that. How long do Caps last for? I've only noticed a Caps system since the 2016 Euros (as I went to that). Been to previous England games but just in a general sale.

I see the Austrian FA have already allowed home fans to purchase tickets. Surely they should send our allocation at same time? Or will they wait to see what they can fill?

The FA will be lobbying UEFA for more tickets to help out Travel Club members who missed out in the ballots. Nothing is guaranteed but keep monitoring this site for news.

If England finish first (second) in our group we will play the round of 16 match in Dublin (Copenhagen) and we have 5000 tickets which were available through the December sale. But if we are one of the lucky 3rd place teams to qualify for the R16 then we will have more than 5000 tickets : 8000 for Budapest, 8000 for Bilbao or 12000 for Glasgow. As only 5000 were available in December, this means that there would be thousands of tickets becoming available for Travel Club members at short notice.

If we qualify for the quarter final then there were again 5000 tickets available in the December sale. But our allocation is 7000 (Rome or Munich) and just the 5000 (St Petersburg or Baku). We would go to Rome if our R16 were in Dublin or Glasgow : Munich if our R16 were in Bilbao. Again, there might possibly be another 2000 tickets becoming available at short notice.

The FA can't sort out the Austria away friendly until the Austrian FA confirms our allocation and the ticket prices. OK, maybe they could do that now. But it would not be fair to conduct any ballot for the Austria match, which takes place in June, without taking account of the caps which will be awarded after the March friendlies. Travel Club members would quite rightly complain. So, any Travel Club ballot and ticket sale for this match will not be until April, after caps for the March friendlies have been added.
