Apologies in advance... advice needed please.

I'm on 20 caps and my son is on 16 caps, we've selected cat 3 with the option to move up to cat 2 for the group games and for the semi and final, fans first with the option to go up one. Basing this on my sons 16 caps where he is the lowest of the two, should we be ok for tickets? 

Any advice would be very appreciated and if theres a thread already open for this type of query apologies in advance!

    Hi James it's difficult to tell without an official announcement of ticket cat split info.

    Couple of observations though.

    Applying for the cats you have, for the matches you have you've limited your availability to just two cats.

    I.e. if you'd gone for a cat 2 (and ticked the box) for the NON semi and final you'd be available to go for cat1, cat2 and cat3.

    Likewise for the semi and final if you'd gone for cat 3 or cat 2 (and again ticked the box).

    You are guaranteed tickets for matches only above 8.5k allocation if you select the correct cat with 6k other ESTC members on 16 and above. Hence lots of other above you will want the cheapest cats.

    Hi Matthew, thank for taking the time to reply. Its more for financial reasons that I have applied for cat 3 with the option to go up one cat. If I was just applying for myself I would go cat 2 all the way through, its ridiculous UEFA have not allowed children a reduction on ticket prices, my sons 12 and is being charged the same as me.
    I guess for the group games we should be ok as we have basically applied for cat 3 and if thats sold out, then get moved up into cat 2. The semi and the final maybe more pot luck.

    When you say I am guaranteed tickets for matches above 8.5k, does that mean I will get a cat 3 ticket if I just applied for cat 3 or it means I am guaranteed a ticket but would have to use the option to go up or down a cat?

    I've applied with my son for all England games. I have 64 caps my son has 39 caps.
    Gone cat 3 and fans first - the cheapest tickets throughout but accepted a higher catergory if necessary.
    With my son being on 39 caps I'm just wondering if I'm right in thinking that for any games he may fall short on cheaper categories he will still fit into the next more expensive category ok and not miss out all together ?

    No absolutely no guarantee of that. 

    I'm saying on a purely number of tickets available (use the link I pasted) as long as you are flexible on your application and choose the correct cat.

    I'd await further news from the FA on ticket cats but you haven't left yourself much wriggle room at all in my opinion with your level of caps. 

    The FA have already stated that they suggest lower cappers might be best served applying for the pricier tickets if they can. I guess on matches where we could get 5k that's pronounced even more.

    That sounds correct. But potentially he'd also pull you into that more expensive category too.

    I.e. it's assumed groups members are all moved.

    Hence the FAs advice for group members to apply with similar cap levels

    Forgot to mention my son is 12 so we'd need to sit together and he can't apply for himself.
    So basically I'm working on catergory splits of 39 caps rather than my caps level.

    Did I see 50%of tickets are going to be catergory 3 ?

    Group game won't be an issue just more of a concern for knock out games.

    Don't want to be too optimistic on cat 3/fans first and he misses out completely.

    Im also on 16 caps but only applied for group games and last 16 iv gone cat 3 for groups and willing to go cat 2 and last 16 gone cat 2 willing go cat 1 i no i have no chance in last 16 but am hoping i get cat 2 or cat 3 for groups im holding out for more info on the splits incase i have change group games but really unlikely with 16 caps should have pay cat1 for group games
