World Cup: England v Belgium update

Posted by Team England at 11:30 on Monday 25 June 2018

With four days to go until England's final group game against Belgium, the FCO have provided us with further information for supporters heading to Kaliningrad from Gdańsk.

Given the high number of fans expected to cross the border, please arrive early to allow yourself enough time for border procedures. Please also be aware that travel from Gdańsk to the stadium in Kaliningrad can take up to four hours. There is no option for supporters to travel from Gdańsk to Kaliningrad by foot;  Sovetsk and Chernyshevskoe which are on the Lithuanian border are accessible by foot.

Supporters are advised to ensure they have their passports and FAN IDs to hand and familiarise themselves with the entry requirements.

Poland are due to play Japan on the same day as the England v Belgium. Both games will be broadcast in the fan zone in Węglowy Square in downtown Gdańsk.

For more information about transiting through, please visit: https://www.gov.uk/government/news/fifa-world-cup-2018-travel-advice-for-fans-travelling-through-poland

At the stadium

We have been advised that there are currently no public transport links close to the stadium with the nearest still requiring a 20 minute walk. Shuttle buses may be available on the day of the game to take supporters to and from the stadium.

Weather in Kaliningrad is expected to be around 27 degrees but there are likely to be mosquitoes around so it may be advisable to take insect repellent with you.

Supporters are once again reminded to get to the stadium early and allow for airport-style security checks. You will need to prove that any tablets, mobile phones and power packs are real so please ensure they are fully charged before entering the stadium.

Any bags larger than an A4 piece of paper will not be permitted into the stadium and must be checked into lockers, left in hotels or stored in the luggage cabins outside the ground. Please be prepared to queue for some time after the game to retrieve your items.

Flags up to two metres in size will be permitted into the stadium; if you wish to hang your flag in the stadium you are advised to get there early - the stadium will open 3 hours before kick-off.

Once inside the stadium please listen to announcements. At the time of publishing, we do not expect there to be a hold-back but please listen announcements throughout the match for further updates.

Tickets

Supporters are reminded to take good care of their tickets and ensure they bring the correct one with them to each match. Re-prints for lost or stolen tickets will not be issued. Please also be aware that no vouchers will be issued to knock-out matches; once England's position in the group is confirmed all supporters with conditional Round of 16 tickets will be required to collect in person in the host city.

If you go to Węglowy Square in Gdansk to watch Poland v Japan you are cutting it fine to get to Kaliningrad.

How come most matches i've seen have had flags a lot larger than 2 metres.??..especially the south american nations...it was the same in Brazil where i had to leave my flag outside the ground in sao paulo only to see banners nearly the entire length of the stand opposite.
