Malta and Slovenia caps update

Malta and Slovenia caps update

Posted by Team England at 13:29 on Wednesday 19 October 2016

England Supporters Club and Travel Club members are advised that we are currently in the process of awarding the caps for those who attend the Malta and Slovenia matches. This process should be completed by Monday 17 October.

The caps system is in place to ensure that, should tickets to England away games and tournament matches be oversubscribed, they will be distributed as fairly as possible and on the following basis; 70% of tickets will be awarded to fans at the top of the caps table, with the rest of the tickets going to a ballot.

If you purchase tickets to an England home game during the members sale, you will be able to assign a FAN number to each ticket purchased, this will ensure that the caps are awarded automatically to each account upon attendance each match.

For tickets purchased outside the members sale you will need to ensure that all FAN numbers in the order are correctly assigned to the tickets by emailing us the details, otherwise caps will not be awarded. If FAN numbers are not assigned before a match has taken place, caps can still be claimed up to 21 days after the match by submitting an email request to englandsupportersclub@thefa.com, enclosing the order number and/or image of the ticket stub for the relevant game. Fans are reminded that caps can only be claimed for tickets purchased directly through The England Supporters Club and The FA.

Members can see their position on the caps table here.

i think it is unfair that people that live hundreds of miles away and cant make it to every England game are given the  same priority as people that live in london and surrounding areas for tickets. surely if you are travelling hundreds of miles to watch your team play that only play in london then there must also be a system for people living long distance to have a chance to see the more important games as well without it going of caps. surely if you are travelling a long distance to watch your team that is a show of support. it would be great if every game was played up north for me go to every game claim my caps and go to all the big games. so come on make it fair for all us up north

You are right Jason it is not a fair system for anyone who lives outside London. It could easily be resolved as I know many members have said before by only awarding caps for away matches (same for everyone then no matter where you live as we would all be travelling) after all it is an away travel club we pay our £75 to join and I cannot ever remember a home game having tickets allocated based on the number of caps you had. Unfortunately I don't ever see this happening as the FA use it as a lever to get fans who maybe only go away once in a membership period to gain enough caps to guarantee them a ticket for the game they wish to attend.
