Update: caps policy for ESTC members

Posted by Team England at 09:29 on Wednesday 13 July 2016

Following the launch of the 2016-2018 England Supporters Travel Club membership we would like to remind members of the caps policy for attending England matches.

Update:

We are currently in the process of updating the caps table and each individual's caps level - please do not contact us regarding the table as it can take time. Renewal caps will be applied in due course and please also be aware that caps are not awarded for tournament matches

News story:

Members of the England Supporters Travel Club earn caps for attending England games both home and away, with two caps awarded for each game attended.

Members can see their position on the caps table here but are advised that, as the cap system runs on a maximum four year rolling basis, any caps earned prior to the 2014 Brazil World Cup will become ‘inactive’ shortly after July 11 2016.

The caps system is in place to ensure that, should tickets to England away games and tournament matches be oversubscribed, they will be distributed as fairly as possible and on the following basis; 70% of tickets will be awarded to fans at the top of the caps table, with the rest of the tickets going to a ballot.

If you purchase tickets to an England home game during the members sale, you will be able to assign a FAN number to each ticket purchased, this will ensure that the caps are awarded automatically to each account upon attendance each match.

For tickets purchased outside the members sale you will need to ensure that all FAN numbers in the order are correctly assigned to the tickets by emailing us the details, otherwise caps will not be awarded. If FAN numbers are not assigned before a match has taken place, caps can still be claimed up to 21 days after the match by submitting an email request to englandsupportersclub@thefa.com, enclosing the order number and/or image of the ticket stub for the relevant game. Fans are reminded that caps can only be claimed for tickets purchased directly through The England Supporters Club and The FA.

Surely more caps for away games than home games is the way forward, it cost us estc members a fortune following our country and so we should be rewarded.

Ah just like in the good old days   The 2 for home 1 cap for away was probably the worst part. At least they did make a change to that.

In the past you have not awarded caps for tournament games. I think this is unfair. The reason it's unfair is the cost and effort that fans go through to support England should be rewarded, at least as much as qualifiers and friendlies. Please bear in mind the likely cost of a trip to Russia in 2 years time so cap incentives would be a little incentive to going.  Can this policy be looked into please.

Tournament tickets are basically seen as being the "prize" for having enough caps, rather than being another cap-earning exercise. Fair enough in my opinion.

Maybe they don't award caps for tournament matches but I think at least five bonus caps should be awarded to those of us who went to that Iceland match. That and a free beer at all matches attended in the current campaign.

Renewal cap is mentioned above.if you kept all your caps no one would ever get a ticket for a small ground as top capers would prevent you from getting one and membership would suffer.in two years if you go regularly you'll get more than £75 back in ticket savings.renewers only pay £65 so it doesn't take too much.general rule of thumb to new members.treat this like a travel club to see the world with a football match thrown in and you'll have a great time.get drunk, fight locals and get carried away about sterlings first touch and you'll end up in the mad house! as I was told by my mates in 04 when I joined,it's a great crack, you make some new friends, you see the world and have a laugh.we've won 1 tournament, like EVER so a second ain't coming any time soon.
