England v France to take place at Wembley as planned

Posted by Team England at 16:48 on Saturday 14 November 2015

Following the tragic events in Paris The FA has this morning held discussions with our French counterparts.

First and foremost we passed on our deepest condolences to those involved in these truly awful incidents. The thoughts of everyone at The FA, our manager Roy Hodgson, his players and our supporters are with the French nation.

During the conversation the Fédération Française de Football (FFF) made it clear that they still wish to play against us on Tuesday night at Wembley Stadium.

In solidarity with the FFF we fully respect and support this decision for the fixture to go ahead.

Furthermore, we have liaised extensively with, and taken advice from Government and the relevant authorities, who are also in support of the decision to fulfil the fixture.

FA Chairman Greg Dyke said: “Our thoughts and sincere condolences are with the city of Paris after these terrible atrocities. On behalf of The FA, I want to express our sorrow and send our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of those who have lost their lives.

“After consulting this morning with the French Football Federation and the British Government, we have decided together that the match between our two countries at Wembley Stadium on Tuesday night should go ahead. We will use the opportunity to pay our respects to all affected and also to express our solidarity with the people of France.”

Finally, along with the FFF, we will discuss how to appropriately mark the tragic incidents at Tuesday's fixture. We are sure that all England supporters will join us in showing our full support to our friends from across the channel.

Good decision, need to show resilience at a time like this and show we won't be defeated by terrorists.

Superb decision and a real show of defiance to the cowardly murderers who are responsible for the despicable scenes in Paris. Let's stand shoulder to shoulder with our French cousins on Tuesday night and pay our respects to those who sadly lost their life's in the attack.

Best decision. Let us both (England & French supporters) show these bloody idiots that the Western World will not be beaten. Pray for those that lost their lives & a speedy recovery to the injured. Tuesday's result is irrelevant.

Good Decision.  Could you put a copy of Le Marseillaise on each seat.  Play the French Anthem and English Anthem as normal, then play the French again for both sets of supporters to sing.

I presume that there will be extra security at Wembley for the France fixture. It's only right that there is. I hope everyone enjoys the game and have a safe trip and enjoy the game itself.

We should all show our solidarity against ISIL and English Fans singing Le Marseillaise along with the french fans would send out a very powerful sign.

Good decision - if it its what the French want. But everyone going, help the situation by getting to Wembley earlier than you usually would. PFP.

Please could the FA issue a clear statement regarding additional security arrangements (required) to reassure fans of their safety both inside/outside the ground along with their logsitics partners eg Rail, Tube etc

Good decision... But I have tickets for the family end... And since all the media coverage of the bombs going off outside the stade de France my 10 year old nephew is too scared to go.. This was to be his first ever England game.. So because I've been told my girlfriend and I will not be allowed entry into the family enclosure without my nepthew.  ..Now my choice is get a refund on all three tickets and miss the match or Pay a fee and exchange my two adult tickets for more expensive seats if any available and refund the child ticket. I understand the rules but seems these people have got what they want! Frightened children!!!

I agree the game should go ahead, but like another commenter I was due to be in the family enclosure and my 9 year refuses to go. Please can someone advise how I get a refund? Thanks
