U21s set for Kazakhstan as next encounter

Posted by Team England at 16:40 on Wednesday 16 September 2015

With Kazakhstan U21s as the next opponents for the Young Lions, Calum Chambers admits that their last performance against Norway was far from their best in their Euro Qualifying opener, and they'll need to come out fighting against Kazakhstan.

James Ward-Prowse took a penalty to secure a 1-0 victory in Drammen last Thursday evening.

And Arsenal defender Chambers made an honest assessment of the game, as Gareth Southgate’s men were forced to work for their win by a determined Norwegian outfit.

“We didn’t play as well as we wanted to play,” admitted Chambers, who has quickly formed a solid partnership with Eric Dier at the centre of the England defence.

“But we don’t want to make excuses because we really fought hard for that result.

“It was a tough game, they were tough to play against, played some good football and had some good possession, hence why it was hard for us.

England U21s next game is against Kazakhstan U21s at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry on Tuesday 13 October. With tickets just £10 for adults and £5 for children, head down if you live locally to support the Young Lions. Buy tickets here.
