Loyalty scheme update

Posted by Team England at 17:30 on Thursday 21 May 2015

The FA has reviewed the cap loyalty scheme for attending England fixtures following feedback from supporters.

England Supporters Club members will now receive two caps for each fixture they attend either home or away.

The previous system, which saw two caps awarded for home games and one for away matches, had helped to contribute towards bumper crowds at Wembley Stadium. The 4-0 victory over Lithuania in March sold out while the next home European qualifier against Switzerland on September 8 is also expected to follow suit with 15,000 already sold during the recent members’ sale.

However, following careful consideration of direct feedback to official England Supporters Club channels and the results of post-match surveys, The FA has opted to review the current system.

There has also been open, honest and regular dialogue with the Football Supporters’ Federation (FSF) as part of that review process.

Due to the expected demand for tickets should England qualify for Euro 2016 in France, it was decided to balance the cap loyalty scheme and equally reward fans attending both home and away games. This change will be effective from the up and coming fixtures away to the Republic of Ireland and Slovenia and won’t be retrospective.

England fans are among the best in the world and that incredible support, both at Wembley Stadium and away, is highly-valued by Roy Hodgson and his playing squad.

As ever, The FA will continue to review the support of the Three Lions and listen to feedback from the England Supporters Club and the FSF on an on-going basis. The trip to Dublin promises to be a colourful occasion and will be a chance to Follow England Away in the right way.

Bring the kick off for the F.A. Cup Final back to 3pm !!! Do NOT play the F.A. cup Semi Finals at Wembley !! Also ENSURE that the F.A. Cup Final not only kicks off at 3PM ON A Saturday, but it is the ONLY match played that day !!!

PJ, I believe the England v Lithuania was a outstanding success in the crowd numbers was it was played on a Friday evening( no school next day). That is why I came with my wife,daughter,son-in-law and two grandchildren.I will come again if you arrange a fixing to suit my grandchildren! There education is paramount by the way they both play football.

If the previously announced criteria for qualifying for the Euro2016  tournament matches ( must be a travel club member, must have been to at least 4 home games, and 2 away games)  surely it makes no difference as those that want to go to France will have already met those criteria and from the caps table there won't be many tickets available for the 'new' members. Although I do agree that it is a backward step in changing the rules this far into the qualification process.

At last the FA see sense and do something with this shambles of a cap system. But to me it's not enough, surely fans should be rewarded more for travelling around the world compared to going to your home stadium? Regardless whether you go to Wembley or Australia for example, you are rewarded the same. Some fairness that is!!

utterly ridiculous, how can you change the membership rules half way through the membership without asking the members? And also changing the number of caps for games at too late notice for people to change their minds about if they want to go to them too?!

Another ridiculous decision, but that's not new.
