Republic of Ireland Update

Posted by Team England at 11:06 on Thursday 05 March 2015

The Football Association of Ireland has confirmed that England’s summer fixture in Dublin will kick-off at 1pm on Sunday 7 June.

Roy Hodgson’s men will face the Republic of Ireland at the Aviva Stadium ahead of the European Championship qualifier in Slovenia a week later.

Following discussions with The FA and the Garda, Three Lions fans have also been allocated 3,000 tickets for the fixture.

Ticket details will be announced in due course via the England Supporters Travel Club.

With giving such a low allocation it may be do more harm than good by forcing a lot of England support who have organised their travel already to find seats in other areas of the stadium. Tickets for the home end are already openly available on the net. I hope the fans do mix sensibly on the day.

Oh dear, how silly must The FA feel as we gave them over 10,000 tickets!!! Why do we always give away teams big allocations when it is not needed. I really don't care about revenue!

absolutely ridiculous , less than 6% of the stadium which will not even fill out.

    Worst negotiators in the world.

Why should the FA feel silly? Giving teams like Ireland a big away allocation at Wembley meant that the seats were sold - as simple as that.

Let's see how many we actually sell before moaning about the allocation.

Pretty obvious why they got 10,000 for Wembley. Lots more Irish people live in London than English people in Dublin.

As for negotiating skills, getting home and away games against Ireland agreed with all the parties involved, given the history probably took some negotiating.
