Survey on England home end

Survey on England home end

Posted by Team England at 16:54 on Thursday 26 February 2015

We’re currently in the process of sending out a survey to gain fans’ ideas and opinions on enhancing the England Home End experience at Wembley.

The Home End is on Level 1 of the stadium, between blocks 108-115 inclusive.

The aim of the survey is to ensure any enhancements put in place are in line with fans’ wishes – and we’re hoping lots of ideas will be generated by the survey.

In line with normal research practices, we have randomly selected a proportion of England Supporters Club (including Travel Club) members to receive the survey – all of whom have been to recent matches at Wembley, whether in the home end or not.

So if you do receive a survey, please put on your creative hat – we’d love to hear back from you.

The atmosphere has improved but see no reason why the support area cannot be extended around the corners and down part of the sides,  I am a golden oldie (79) who usually watches the game from half way, at recent games I have thought about going behind the goal, I enjoy joining in with the lads and half way is so quiet.

In my earlier posting I should have mentioned I was referring to it when it was at the West end of the stadium, If change was necessary why not move the hospitality seats, let's face it they are more than often empty, ideal for the AWAY end. What other areas have been messed about with? I only missed the last game.

Safe standing is something that resonates with me too, I would also like to see an area dedicated to England travel members and their guests, there is nothing worse than sitting through a match surrounded by day trippers who glare at you as if your an alien if you vocally support the side. Also, I would like to see season cards introduced for the home qualifiers, maybe reward fans with 'free' access to friendlies if they purchase a qualifying season card or if not free then seats for a tenner. I also agree that a designated home area for regular fans is important and more so when attacking this end in the second half. The players, fans and opposition should all be clear of this.

A season ticket/season card that guarantees you the same seat every time. So we don't have to go throught he whole rigmarole of logging on, selecting the block we want, and trying to find the seats we like as close to where we always sit. Direct Debit the money from our accoiunts automatically on the 'sale' date unless we 'opt out'. Simple - yet has proven incredibly difficult to get EF/The FA/Wembley plc to even open talks about this, never mind implement it.......yet hundreds of clubs the country over manage to doo just this on much smaller budgets than our own FA/Wembley Stadium limited.

for a start i would like to say why has the HOME end changed position and why wasnt i told of this as i have bought tickets everytime, surely this means something?!! i have been buying tickets in the so called england home end which was west end block135, which was also acompanyd by the band and other regulor faces. The last game we attended the band was the other end and i was slagged by my mates saying hay you got the right tickets? dnt get me wrong about the view but we were surrounded by kids and families,no disrespect to that but a group of older men on a night out at the best groud in the world want to have a bit of fun and laugh with some old faces! i cant beleve i didnt get any feed back from you and find this increasingly the norm with fa,england, supporters, just take our early money and move on!!!!!!!

For Wembley as a whole rather than just the home-end:

Let’s be honest, unless legislation changes we are not going to get actual ‘safe standing’ as in the German model. What could happen however is that persistent standing should be tolerated in certain areas (say the lower tiers behind the goal/s or the back half of the lower tiers all the way round the ground), just like it is at every club ground in the Country. The stewards should be trained to offer a relaxed approach in these areas and the ticket purchasing system should flag up a warning of “potential restricted views due to standing” to anyone looking to purchase in those areas.

I would also make the lower tier more affordable. Yes you can get cheap tickets in the upper tier, but I feel alienated from the game and whole experience up there in the gods, but am currently priced out of the lower tier.

As stated elsewhere tickets on the whole should be more affordable and should take into account competition, opposition and date/time.

Affordable beer tents on Wembley way (as seen outside the Stade de France) to get an atmosphere building on the way to the ground.

Patriotic/rousing (as appose to generic pop) music on the PA in the lead up to the game, but significantly NO MUSIC immediately before kick-off, so the crowd build the atmosphere themselves.

The concourses made to feel like the England national football ground, rather than a grey, soulless area. Flags, pictures of iconic players/moments etc. – it can be temporary so you can whip it all down before the next event.

More tolerance of England flags, again to make it feel like a football ground, rather than a sports arena.

Keep ‘obvious’ away fans out of home areas.

No raise the flag for the opposition or any entertainment for them before the game / at half-time.

Get rid of the band, they’ve had their day (15 years ago!) and only enhance the atmosphere negatively these days.

Most importantly NONE of the ideas suggested on your survey.
