Spain v England - update

Posted by Team England at 11:56 on Tuesday 10 February 2015

We are awaiting the final details of this fixture from the Spanish FA, with regards to ticket information and further details. We are expecting this information in Mid-October. Thank you to all Travel Club members for your patience on this, and we will publish any updates as soon as we receive them.

For information we have received so far regarding the game, please read the below

England will face European champions Spain at the Rico Pérez Stadium in Alicante on Friday 13 November.

The fixture will form part of the Three Lions’ preparation for Euro 2016 as the Spanish join an elite list of opposition that Roy Hodgson’s side will take on in the build up to next summer’s tournament.

Having secured qualification with Saturday’s 6-0 win in San Marino, England are set to welcome France at Wembley Stadium on Tuesday 17 November (details to be confirmed) and Germany in Berlin on Saturday 26 March (kick-off TBC).

The forthcoming meeting with Spain will be the first since the 1-0 victory at Wembley in November 2011. England’s last trip to Spain came in 2009, a 2-0 loss in Seville, and November’s game will be the Three Lions’ first visit to Alicante.

Could you alter the date of this News Item so that it appears as current news. Thanks.

Although details of this fixture cannot be confirmed until mid-October, surely you can open the register of interest immediately and close it again by mid-October. This would provide both yourselves and the Spanish FA with useful information for the negotiation of a ticket allocation. Indeed, there seems no reason why a figure cannot be negotiated now. If the allocation is not negotiated, but determined solely by the Spanish FA, can they not indicate the figure now.

I am sure that the FA will have reserved flights and accommodation for the team and entourage without waiting for the fixture to be confirmed. You would not wait until mid-October and then find there's no availability, would you ? (Lets face it, Spain are not going to slip up at home against Luxembourg.) We fans are in the same position. Except for top cappers who are guaranteed a ticket, we need to know as soon as possible the allocation, the demand and whether a ballot will be required. Please help by opening the register of interest.

    Thank you.
