FA Cup - Round Three, Replay Highlights

Posted by Team England at 15:39 on Thursday 15 January 2015

Tuesday night’s FA Cup Third Round Replay at White Hart Lane got off to a flyer when Burnley raced into a 2-0 lead inside eight minutes thanks to a stunning half volley from young England under 21 star Marvin Sordell and a deflected free kick from Scotland International Ross Wallace. However Tottenham displayed an impressive fight back drawing level before half time with goals from Paulinho and rocket from Etienne Capoue.

The second half began in the same fashion as the first, only this time with Spurs on the front foot. An early goal in the 49th minute saw Spurs take the lead for the first time in the match when Paulinho’s deep corner from the left was bundled home at the far post by Vlad Chiriches at close range.

The early-goals trend continued as Spurs extended their lead further, when Benjamin Stambouli spread a pass wide to Soldado who’s perfectly placed low cross was met at the far post and fired home by the on rushing Danny Rose.

There was speculation that both leading strikers and Englands Under-21 stars Danny Ings and Harry Kane, would be in the team line up for this fixture, but both were rested for this Cup tie.

Burnley boss Sean Dyche believes both strikers are fantastic examples of this country producing top-quality young players. Two of English football’s “shining lights”.

Tottenham will now entertain Leicester City in Round Four.
