Volunteer for raise the flag England v Slovenia

Posted by Team England at 10:14 on Wednesday 05 November 2014

We are looking for volunteers to assist on match day, Saturday 15 November, prior to the England v Slovenia match.

Meet at Wembley 10.45am to help lay out thousands of coloured sheets which are held up for the National Anthem to form a huge fan's St George Cross. Expect to finish by 2pm.

See behind the scenes as Wembley is preparing for kick off, free and exclusive match t-shirt, packed lunch provided, work with a great bunch of fellow fans but best of all that hair on the back of the neck moment when the St George flag is formed and you know you helped to make it happen.

Families welcome, minimum age 14 years but must be accompanied by an adult.

Apply with name(s) by 5pm Monday 10 November at the latest.

Email: fanfriendly@mac1.net

Note, those taking part in the layout will need to be in possession of a valid match ticket.

Why do we still bother with this? So sponsors can advertise on the back of the sheets? St. George's Flag connected by EE. Only idiots need apply.

You're right, Michael, only mugs of the highest order need apply, especially when you factor in what the company (prop. M. Perryman Esq, I believe) contracted to lay out the 'thousands of coloured sheets' is allegedly paid. A very good source tells me it runs into thousands. I stand to be corrected, of course. Maybe all parties involved might like to be open and up front and tell the wider membership, all 100,000 of us (!), but especially those who volunteer, what the bottom line is. I bet it'd make for interesting reading.
