EURO 2020

UEFA EURO 2020

England Scotland Ballot

Well, some of us waited until 1pm (UK) and the expected sight of tickets and a place for the access code is nowhere to be seen. What on earth has happened ? Were they all sold before the appointed time ?

The same thing has happened to my friend. Someone on another thread has said the codes were live at 10am and all tickets have now gone. Hopefully the travel club can put this right somehow.

Same thing happened to me. Rang FA after 1pm and they apologised and said access codes were activated immediately, so all the tickets were sold early in the morning - probably before I had even opened the ballot result email. Asked him how could so many people know this that 131 tickets could be sold and he said there were a "few hundred" successful ballot places (assume 200 upwards) and enough of them must have found out to sell out all the tickets. Those of us who trustingly waited until 1pm got stitched up.

He did say that those of us who were successful in the ballot but ultimately unable to buy a ticket would be "prioritised" for future (shambolic) sales....

It was very poor that they said available after 1pm then allowed them to sell early, some will have waited until 1.

400-500? If that's true then the FA bloke was telling porkies when he told me a "few hundred"......

I am absolutely fuming how yet again the FA can treat us so called loyal fans in such a, do they and will they ever learn. I done exactly what was asked of me, go onto the uefa website at 1pm UK time, now having read what you guys have written it was a complete waste of time and an afternoon constantly refreshing. And to find out that 400 codes had been sent out for only 131 tickets is absolute madness. Surely 131 codes could of been generated and sent out and then a short list for Thursday sent out. It must be obvious to the FA the current demand for tickets for a Scotland game, for goodness sake it’s 131 tickets not thousands!!!
And what about consideration for those at work today you have no access to their phones at 1pm, or construction workers with no signal in the middle of nowhere the list could go on. BUT WHY SHOULD THE FA CARE ABOUT THE FANS!!!

Haha - no. "Few" is usually used to emphasise how small a number is, so I think he was trying to make me feel better by saying a "few hundred" when it was apparently more. Never mind, its done now. I'll watch the game down the pub, as I had planned before this morning's FA email.

I fail to see what the FA have done wrong here, it's Uefa's site and they run it - if a technical glitch meant fans could access tickets before 1pm then its Uefa's fault entirely.

Who told you that it was a "technical glitch"?
Have the FA put out a statement about this farce, not seen anything on the website? If the FA state publicly that the fault was UEFA`s then fair enough, but maybe it wasn`t??

I received a successful email at 09:57 to buy tickets at 13:00. Obviously waited until 13:00 when tickets had gone. Phoned englandfans up and they said 513 fans got the email. They are looking to get additional tickets from UEFA but unlikely given the game kicks off in less than 36 hours

    2 issues:
    1. Allowing the sale to go ahead as soon as access codes were sent out - assume UEFA's fault
    2. Selecting 513 members from the ballot when only 131 tickets were available - That's the FA's fault.

I appreciate that had they just selected 131 members, instead of 513, there is a strong chance I wouldn't have got an email from them. But I would have been far happier if I hadn't been presented with the possibility of a ticket at 10am yesterday only to have it snatched away at 1pm.

But if only 131 had been selected, then they would have all got tickets, regardless of the sale starting early.

Appreciate UEFA want to sell tickets to make some money and the FA want to sell tickets to justify charging us £75 for membership, but why p**s off approx 400 members at a stroke?

In some of the previous phases of ticket resales the non take up rate of ticket purchase to these members offered was up to 50%.

Hence this third sale containing tickets from the first sale and the second sale.

Hence it was understandable, with the tight timescales, the ESTC team keenness that no tickets went to waste and that the data having to be sent from UEFA to the FA and back, that more fans than tickets would be offered.

Clearly the sale opening up early was an error but it seems you're probably directing your anger to the wrong organisation.

Fingers crossed those 513 - 131 members get lucky in the next few hours. Including one of our party who was caught up in this pickle.

    In reply to Matthew Isle:

Just on the point about only a 50% take-up rate on previous sales, then for 131 tickets that would mean a reasonable number of members to select from the ballot would be 200? 513 seems excessive.

And I'm not angry. I wasn't going to the game before the email arrived and I'm still not going now. No big deal, life is too short to be angry. Some tournaments I've got tickets for everything (Euro 2004), some tournaments I've got nothing (Germany 2006), so I know its the luck of the draw.
