UEFA EURO 2020

Applying for tickets

Can some of the seasoned fans clear something up for me .

If I apply for all games, is it all or nothing ?

Or should I just apply for group games as I will have more chance  . I only have 2 caps so I realise I will be very lucky to get any but finger crossed .

One more thing, will caps from this campaign carry over to the World Cup ?

Thanks

Bryan

In this scenario you have outlined, assuming mid 20 cappers will miss out on Cat 3 tickets, will you (due to cap differentials) get Cat 3 and the other members on your application (mid 20 cappers) get Cat 2? Or where you have said you'd accept cat 2 tickets, even though you personally would ordinally qualify for Cat 3, does this mean you would all move to Cat 2?

Normally ALL the group get moved up or down as one.

I thought each application was treated separately, so even if one person in the group has enough caps for cat 3, they'll get cat 3, where as the rest will get cat 2 if they dont have enough caps?

Groups are attempted to be kept together in the same ticket cat. This means less work for the ESTC team and fundamentally it's why people apply as groups! Also remember that the acceptance of different ticket cats is per application not per member.

Hence the FA advice for people on similar amount of caps to apply together and be flexible with ticket cats.

Inflexibility could mean members of your group miss out completely.

    In reply to Andrew McCarthy:

Everyone will be considered individually when it comes to deciding whether or not they get a ticket. Thus, someone in the 70% will get a ticket and someone not in the 70% will be in the ballot.

However, I agree with Matthew. For any particular match, all of the people on the application must apply for the same category of ticket. It therefore follows that, once it has been decided which members in an application have been successful, they will all get the same category of ticket. If you apply with low cappers and you are all successful, it could mean that you might be moved up to category 2 even though, on your own, you have enough caps to qualify for category 3.

Thanks. Do you know if this principle still applies when separate groups link applications? I.e. if both groups are successful, do they move up or down as one (regardless of caps)? Or do the groups get treated separately?

The linking up of different groups is only done AFTER the group has been allocated tickets.

    In reply to Matthew Isle:

Agreed. It is ESTC who allocate ticket categories to members. They will do this in January in accordance with the Travel Club rules and the principle that high cappers get first preference for ticket category. I doubt whether ESTC will even know which applications have been linked. So they will not take account of linking when they decide what category of tickets to award for a particular application.

It is UEFA who allocate actual seats and who take account of any linking of applications by Group ID. They will do this probably in May when tickets start to be issued. If two linked applications have been awarded tickets in different categories then the linking will have no effect and will be ignored.

News: Pop-up party a great success!

Jon Widdows from Chingford in Essex won a pop-up party at his house for the England v Costa Rica game on Tuesday, and said it was “one of the best Tuesdays ever!” He was able to invite 10 friends to his house for a party thrown by us, and...

blogs: Natalie Sawyer: Let’s hope England can bounce back like Brentford

As a Brentford fan I’m used to suffering disappointments and England need to summon the spirit of the Bees to bounce back stronger than ever. The season before last we missed out twice on promotion from League One – on the last day of the season and in the play-off final – and I know all the players said they didn’t want to go through that again. This time round we came second to go up automatically...

blogs: John Hemmingham: No shortage of memories despite the disappointment

There we were at the stadium in Sao Paulo, instruments in hand with 10 minutes to go until England kicked off against Uruguay – it was do-or-die time for the team and we’d been waiting for an hour to hear if they were going to let us play inside. Suddenly stadium officials came to us and told us we couldn’t take the instruments in – that’s when the panic set in. We couldn’t miss the...

blogs: Natalie Sawyer: Costa Rica will be a platform for performance

I was actually live on air the moment England’s exit from the World Cup was confirmed and it was a very odd few minutes. As a reporter you usually thrive on breaking news but this was so disappointing, so deflating for the nation that I almost...

blogs: Mark Wright: Fresh blood for three points?

As an England fan I’m trying to stay as positive as I can, but it’s difficult in this situation! I was at the Uruguay game and the atmosphere was incredible, even though the result wasn’t good at all. Roy Hodgson has made changes for the Costa Rica game and it’s time for some of the squad players to come in and show us what they can do. There’s no point playing the same guys who lost the...
