EURO 2020

UEFA EURO 2020

Buying as a group

Hello

Apologies in advance if the answer to my question is obvious- I haven't bought tickets as a travel club member before.

My son and I are both now travel club members, with his account linked to mine as a junior.  I'd like to apply for tickets for us for Euro 2020 but from what I can see, each member can only apply as an individual. Is there a way to apply together? He's only 13 so can't go on his own, and I wouldn't want to go without him as it would be a bit cruel for him to stay at home while his mum gets to go!

Any ideas how it works? I have more caps than him so presumably a higher chance of getting a ticket.

Thank you!

I can't remember the in's and outs but when you apply you can 100% apply as a group, for up to 4 people I believe.

Applications for Euro 2020 tickets are not open yet. But when they open in December, you will be able to include your son as a "guest" on your own application.

If any of the matches are oversubscribed, i.e. more applicants than available tickets, then you will go into a ballot as a single entry. This means either you will both get tickets or neither of you. There won't be a situation in which you get a ticket and your son doesn't.

Having said that, you both need to have been to at least 1 match in the 2018-20 campaign. I see you went to the home match against the Czech Republic so you meet the criterion. If your son doesn't have any caps then you need to take him to the Montenegro match next week.

To get the caps for the Montenegro match, you need to send an email to englandsupportersclub@thefa.com quoting your ticket order number and your and your son's member numbers.

    Thanks, all.

David, that's really clear- thank you. I've managed to mess up our caps by having multiple accounts (I should have 6 caps) so I've emailed to ask whether it's possible to fix this. My son should have a few but we're going to the Montenegro match so I'll make sure at least that one is registered.

Are you sure about this David, I’ve recently joined my niece and nephews up to the travel club to get tickets for a couple of the group games for them. I had to phone up as I had the problem of my nephews not having passports, but thankfully they didn’t need one, but while I was on the phone I asked if when applying I would be taken down to there level of 4 caps  and was given the impression that I wouldn’t so I thought that it was possible for me to be successful and the kids not. Have I misunderstood this because it would be not much use me getting a cat 3 ticket if they got cat 2 for example.

    In reply to Paddy Buckley:

You haven't misunderstood things, Paddy. When I replied to Elizabeth, I thought she had only 2 caps. It was difficult to imagine a situation in which a match would be oversubscribed but 2 caps would get her in the 70% whilst her son would miss out. When she said that she had 6 caps scattered over more accounts and these were to be consolidated, perhaps I should have come back on this thread and modified my reply.

    So, to Elizabeth,.........

If a match is oversubscribed, 70% of the tickets go to the applicants with the most caps, 20% are in a ballot for which you and your son will not be eligible and 10% are in a ballot for everybody else.

Each applicant will fall into one of these 70/20/10 categories based on their own caps record. If you have more caps than your son, it is possible for you to qualify for the 70% allocation whilst he is in the 10% ballot. The greater the caps difference between you, the more likely this is to happen.

If you both fall into the 10% ballot then you will be treated as a single entry, as described in my first post above.

If a game is over subscribed (I'm thinking 2nd round) I'm going to be in the 20% category and my mate in the 10% as he hasn't been to 2 away games. Ideally we would like to sit together at Wembley for the group games.

Is my understanding correct that for previous tournaments applications are for all games? So if we made a joint application that would reduce my changes of 2nd round tickets as the joint application would be in the 10% category. Therefore we would stand more chance if we made 2 applications.

    In reply to Thomas Simpson:

No. You are each considered separately. If you qualify for the 20% ballot and your mate doesn't then you will be in the 20% ballot and you will stand a better chance of a ticket than him. It is possible that you will get a ticket and he doesn't.

If you are unsuccessful in the 20% ballot then you will still be included in the 10% ballot. In that case, you and your mate would be entered as a single entry so that either you both get a ticket or neither of you do.

    Hi David.

i signed up to the supporters club last night and i am looking to attend ALL matches before the tournament to gain around 4-8 caps. I saw you mentioned applications for the Euro 2020 is December.

I currently on 0 Caps before December application.

    1) Firstly, will this effect my application on getting tickets?
    2) Secondly, am i more likely to get tickets when i apply with my friend/friends who are on 8+ caps currently. Who will then have around 12+ come the start of Euro 2020.

    Hope you can help.

    Thanks

    In reply to Tom Allard:

Applications for the FA allocation of tickets for the Euro 2020 tournament will open in December and remain open for about a month. Immediately after applications close, the FA will conduct any ballots to see who gets the tickets.

This means that any caps you earn for friendlies next spring and early summer will be too late to count for the Euro ticket allocation. However, they will count for any later matches up to and including the 2022 World Cup.

I'm sorry, but going into the Euro ballots with 0 caps will have a big effect on your chances of tickets. Where there are more applicants than tickets for any particular match, the FA will not allocate any tickets to members with no caps unless every applicant who does have any caps has first been given a ticket. In order for you to get a ticket, the FA would need a big enough block of tickets from UEFA to satisfy demand in full. This could very well happen for the group matches.

I expect UEFA to publish the ticket allocation figures before the end of November. Matthew Isle has a thread on this forum which shows the number of members at or above each caps level. You can compare the two sets of figures and get some idea of whether demand is likely to be met.

It doesn't make any difference to your chances if you apply for tickets individually or if you are included on a group application with your mates.

    In reply to David Lilley:

    Hi David,

According to the site i think there are 15,200 Supporters club. If no people sign up from no on until December to the club that would mean 17-17.5% of the ticket allocation from UEFA would almost guarantee entry.

However, it's not likely supporters club will have anymore sign up's. It seems though that 17% for home match does seem quite small. If we compare World Cup which read has varied from 13-16%.

I am told the allocation will be announced within the next 5-7 days.

Can you point me in the right direction for Matthew Isle thead please? Couldnt find it

    Cheers

Thanks Adrian - i think i wasnt clear and i was just referring to the 3 Group stage matches at Wembley. I knew full well i had no chance of getting any Dublin, Rome etc, Semi-Finals etc tickets.

I have worked out if our allocation by UEFA is around 18% i stand a chance. Anything around 14-15% i am taking a gamble!

    Thanks a lot
