EURO 2020

UEFA EURO 2020

Who was in charge of Security Yesterday?

Who was in charge of Security Yesterday? Was it Wembley or UEFA?

As per a lot of other posts here today - they need to be accountable. They cannot be accountable for thousands of drunks turning up on Wembley way and drinking / misbehaving for hours on end, but they can be for the stadium security.

Judging by the shambolic nature I would assume they left it to an apprentice and forgot to check his work.

I was with my 10 year old son yesterday and he was amazing!
Walking up Wembley way with all the idiots and local troublemakers was just about ok because I thought that going through the covid and ticket check this would weed out the twats and non ticket holders.... But No, it was an absolute shambles!
Wembley security has always been slack, but yesterday was dangerous, especially with the gangs of locals going around and trying to force their way into entrance D where my Son and I were trying to get in.
Security and the police seemed to do nothing and these Yobs have got no fear and aren't even challenged.
This needs sorting out in the future, it was a disgrace and people want to go to football with their kids and at least feel safe!

Sounds like my own experience, including the 10 year old son. My boy was a bit stressed on Wembley Way and trying to get in but was OK once we were at our seats.
I can only describe it as a dickhead festival and attendance was mandatory.

The secret is out to everyone that Wembley is easy to bunk into. Unless getting and collecting caps then zero point paying for a ticket as you can just get in for free.

I agree it was terrible and this needs to be seriously looked at before we have another disaster like Hillsborough and going by yesterday that may be just around the corner.
The trouble is real England fans (football fans) are now all thought of as trouble making idiots because of these stupid clowns getting in without match tickets. I can’t see how we can attempt to host the World Cup when we can’t even manage our own stadium. I even saw a few stewards yesterday recording the game. I think the only way to get rid of the dickheads is to invite the forces to manage the security inside and out of Wembley. Most probably sounds a bit over the top but it has to stop now before we have a major incident. For the record the England team were amazing throughout the competition.

I felt safer in Marseille at the Russia game than I did at Wembley Sunday night. It was not even a surprise as there were hundreds of ticketless fans at the Denmark game. Both my football partner and I are women over 50 and when we asked a steward were we could sit we were told to go away or get kicked out the stadium

    Good afternoon,

Does anyone know if the FA or ESTC monitor and/or reply on this forum?

So far, my emails have received a generic acknowledgment, and that’s it.

I was hoping an official statement addressing the chaos on Sunday would have been released by now and some form of enquiry announced. However, I suspect the view from above will be to try to brush it all under the carpet. We’ll live in hope.

Dan Roan interviewed FA Chief Mark Bullingham earlier and as expected, completely passing the buck of any responsibility. Claims it was all the doing of those causing disorder on Wembley way. As if the stewarding/police numbers and security operation was entirely adequate.
    Have to laugh.
