Do you think FA will take a ticket allocation?

The UK's traffic light system for classifying overseas destinations is due to be reviewed this Thursday (15th) with changes coming into effect the following week. There has been speculation that Hungary and Poland may be moved to the green list. If that were to happen then I think the FA would ask for a ticket allocation to these away matches.

If these countries remain on the amber list, the situation is more difficult to predict. One wing of government is saying that the rules may be changed so that double vaccinated people returning from an amber list country won't have to quarantine after a certain date. Another wing of government is continuing to say that people should not travel to an amber list country.

There is another issue to consider: the rules imposed by the Hungarian and Polish authorities on visitors from the UK. As we saw with the Euro 2020 QF in Rome, the rules of the host country could mean that the FA won't seek an allocation.

The national stadiums in Budapest and Warsaw are sufficiently large that, in normal circumstances, we might hope to get enough tickets to meet demand. But, with the coronavirus situation, if we do get an allocation, it could be 5% of a reduced capacity.

    David.
What would be our normal allocation in Hungary, pre Covid, based upon a capacity of 69k please?
Does any pre Covid FIFA percentage still apply post Covid I wonder?
They have recently held games at full capacity in Budapest, for the Euro's, but not in a typical home and away qualifier scenario, I don't think.

Booked my flights to Warszawa yesterday for a great price. Suspect come September that Poland and Hungary will have relaxed borders and open stadiums.

I hate to add bad news to an already bad day but UEFA have given Hungary a three game stadium ban (1 suspended). Although it hasn't been officially confirmed, Hungary's next game is September 2nd against England in Budapest (unless they somehow manage to fit 2 friendlies in between now and that date).

I've just taken a look at the competition regulations and I'm surprised to see that they do not stipulate a minimum percentage of the stadium capacity for the visiting fans. They say :

It [the host association] shall set aside an appropriate number – to be determined by mutual agreement and in writing – of complimentary and purchasable tickets for the visiting association.

Looking at the away qualifiers for the 2018 World Cup, we were given well above 5% of stadium capacity (which is the minimum for Euro qualifiers) for all 5 of our matches. See the 2016-18 campaign section from this thread.

    Thanks. Interesting stuff.
I would guess the home FA see playing us as a good chance to make a few quid, where otherwise they'd have empty seats. I hope this transpires in Hungary, although the Euro's would suggest home interest could be high.
Obviously, our ESTC asking for intention to travel in advance is part of the ticket negotiating process with the foreign country. Coupled with the July 15th review of our 'traffic light system' I'm quite optimistic about a decent allocation for this one.

Yeah I took a punt on both… with cover if needed to cancel. By then will be double jabbed as I imagine a lot of us will be so easier to get to and fro hopefully then. Would expect ESTC to take up an allocation of some sort as unlike the Italy game we’re not quite so restricted by windows of isolation.

    In reply to James Collinson:

Biggest issue going away will be how other Nations look at the UK. Most deem us as a 'Red' risk, with more and more insisting on an Isolation period upon arrival. With further relaxations next week, and predictions of 100K a day of infections, it would seem little change any time soon.

    In reply to Steve Coupland:

During the Euros, Hungary allowed in visiting fans up to a maximum of 3 days. A negative PCR test no older than 72 hours on arrival was required. During June and July most of the borders with its neighbours were reopened and restrictions were relaxed as the proportion of population who had received the vaccine increased (Hungary pulled out of the EU scheme and so its vaccination rates were some way ahead of the rest of the EU).

Subject to the situation changing becuase of new variants or whatever, this should bode well for our match
