Wembley security yesterday

Something I raised earlier in the tournament was the pathetic security arrangements. After the shambles of last night, quite frankly... we do not deserve to host a home tournament in this country  until the security at Wembley is giving a complete overhaul.

When we went to Russia, you had private security,  Fifa volunteers, the police and the military all carrying out proper ticket/person checks on everyone at certain checkpoints. It all went very quickly and without fuss.

The scenes yesterday at Wembley were truly ridiculous, from how easy it was for people to get into the stadium for free to random fights breaking out between stewards and fans. What's the point in collecting the caps now when you can just waltz in un-challenged? It was good to see some honest England fans challenging these free loaders but it shouldn't be their job.

The current security arrangements are not fit for purpose. Something needs to happen.

    Shocking to see grown men think it is exceptable to punch to the floor and kick young boys that have managed to break in to the ground. I hope the police and FA check to see if any these people are ESTC members. No defending violence supporting England

    so the people that went in that pushed over metal fences onto minimum wage stewards is that not classed as violence? dont agree with the 4 lads kicking one lad on the floor, but in last 4 years ive done 20 england games why should a little scrote just run in when we have all spent thousands getting there? what also really wound me up is the fact the turnstiles had to be closed for 25 mins whilst people without tickets kept trying to get in. result aside i hated yesterday

    yesterday was appalling. i feel for the stewards they were left high and dry by the police and security (if that even existed) ive not seen anything like that! I saw a couple of people in wheelchairs trying to get through the mosh pits from the tube to the accessibility entrance under the stadium, struggling over broken glass dodging bottles flying through the sky!

    Why were there so few police? why no police horses and dogs during the day? the thugs are proper scared of them! Imagine taking your young family down Wembley Way at 4pm... dodging bottles, seeing people openly taking drugs, people pissing in the street, people fighting, people exposing themselves, i am lost for words.

    also all those on wembley way at 6pm where were they watching the game is what made me laugh the most just went down there to play up and stick a few photos on social media - proper weapon behaviour

    It was well known from the Semi Final that loads of people were trying to get in without tickets. The stewarding was up to it last night, thousands just shoving their way in, complete joke. Hopefully we won't get another tournament in England.

    My thoughts exactly Kerry.

    And yet Wembley were reporting last night during the game that no-one had made ingress.

    I can't imagine the person tasked with being in charge of the full operation being able to keep their job.I

    i watched on tv and itv said before game wembley have said no one got in then at half time they changed there mind and said a few got in looking on tv looked like easily 75k in there

    yeah it was shocking. i saw one lad in a right mess as i was walking to get in so i decided he might need my water more than i did.. i asked him where he was watching it, he said he didnt know and that he and 40 others had come down from an east midlands city (i wont name), that they had been drinking since 6am and that he had just taken two ***** and that he didnt know what was going on.

    Not seen anything like that at a game for a long time. England or otherwise.

    We arrived at Wembley Park to the aforementioned chaos at about 17:30. Hung about for a bit but the atmosphere just didn’t feel right, and there seemed to be a lot of people trying to scope out the checkpoints, so we made moves to get through and just get inside.

    Firstly, nobody checked the COVID pass. Secondly, nobody seemed arsed about checking our tickets, so they weren’t activated. I asked and was moved on. I tried further up but again, nobody was interested. It was quite clear that something was wrong when we rounded the corner at the top of the ramp. Every entrance was f*cking rammed to the gills and completely stationary. There were reams of unsuccessful ‘jibbers’ being ejected and then rejoining the queue elsewhere.

    We made our way around to gate A, and after a long wait, we were told it was closed and we needed to go to E. Cue a stampede as everyone went back around the corner. After lots of dicking about, we eventually got to the front, where our tickets activated themselves. The two of us at that entrance got in without any limpets but there were still loads of people trying it. The stewards were turning around anyone who doubled in but they were fighting a losing battle. Police gave it the usual about being there to maintain order. Didn’t see any maintenance being carried out..

    Once in we walked around to where our seats were, and went up. Our row was absolutely rammed, but most of them started to snake off when they realised people were arriving and insisting on being in their ticketed area.

    On the whole it was a disaster even compared to Denmark, where some of the same things were happening but nowhere near as bad. That ring of checkpoints around the stadium should be impenetrable, no excuses. There were way too many ticketless individuals/groups too close to the ground. Think they need to move it back and swallow up Wembley Way if they can, but I realise that might be difficult.

    If loads of us witnessed similar stuff in previous rounds why weren't extra measures out in place?

    A Wembley spokesperson said it was 'unprecedented '.

    Really? So loads didn't jibb into the SF and we predicted within our social circles the F would be worse.

    Amount of people on train and tube who we’re planning to Wembley and try and sneak in. After what happened on Wednesday, action could have been done to resolve it.

    Made a decision to try and get in the ground at 6PM, as was concerned they would shut the turnstiles as mate reckons thousands were trying to get in. Absolutely embarrassing for UEFA, Wembley and the FA.

    Unfortunately there are just too many dickheads that associate themselves with the England team.

    I’d love to go to Germany for the next Euros, but that tournament will be a magnet for the twats, so I don’t think I’ll bother. Every match will be exactly like yesterday.

    Thank God Russia got the WC not us, and it, mainly, kept the bellends away.

    I got lambasted a decade ago on here for saying that.

    Am beginning to think Germany in 2024 might be similar (to last night)...
