EURO 2020

UEFA EURO 2020

Wembley security yesterday

Something I raised earlier in the tournament was the pathetic security arrangements. After the shambles of last night, quite frankly... we do not deserve to host a home tournament in this country  until the security at Wembley is giving a complete overhaul.

When we went to Russia, you had private security,  Fifa volunteers, the police and the military all carrying out proper ticket/person checks on everyone at certain checkpoints. It all went very quickly and without fuss.

The scenes yesterday at Wembley were truly ridiculous, from how easy it was for people to get into the stadium for free to random fights breaking out between stewards and fans. What's the point in collecting the caps now when you can just waltz in un-challenged? It was good to see some honest England fans challenging these free loaders but it shouldn't be their job.

The current security arrangements are not fit for purpose. Something needs to happen.

Would appear that Baroness Casey of Blackstock has been appointed to conduct a review into the whole affair, will be interesting to hear the results of it, and indeed just how long it actually takes..... www.thetimes.co.uk/.../baroness-casey-fa-names-peer-to-head-inquiry-into-chaos-at-wembley-final-gsj9x0tjh

So out of interest I passed this on to the Met Police to see what their comments were.

Just out of curiosity when all the bottles etc were getting thrown on wembley way and things getting stuck up bums etc whos department was that ?

Was it the police or the stewards ?

If it was the police as I’m sure it was can we “ really “ lay the blame with them for everything that followed at the stadium ?

We got to Wembley Central at around 1.30 and I love a good sing song and banter but having the misses with me it was obvious then it was going to get bad so we left for the green man but

Why wasn’t it nipped in the bud ?

Was it a case of better to have it contained on wembley way etc than split them up and have mini riots here there n everywhere ?

If that’s the case then is anyone to blame other than England fans ?

Were the police just trying not to have a riot and ruin those fans days who just happened to be there because that was the way in ?

There’s hundreds of questions but let’s just sack wembleys head of security because it’s all his fault

OK, Mark Bullingham, FA Chief Exec, apologises but then turns the statement into how well his staff did under pressure. How about a refund, Mark?

Seems to me what I said was the conclusion of them all even the bbc reporter Matt.

Might not be the place to say this but I’m sure if I hadn’t of got a ticket and lots of the high cappers we know would’ve done anything we could of to get in that day in this country or abroad

If you mean this (below) then you're spot on Graham. Seems that having a mortgage makes anyone immune to completely f@cking up in their roles.

Are people really trying to get someone sacked , this person may have a mortgage children to feed etc

I meant the bit about it being England fans at fault .
Also I still stand by that statement as well .
