EURO 2020

UEFA EURO 2020

Double standards

Headline from the Telegraph tonight

Italy fans to be allowed into Euro 2020 final at Wembley without self-isolating

Ministers and Uefa agree on exemption for supporters, despite England fans being barred from entering Rome for the quarter final

So we were not allowed to go to Rome thanks to their anti-UK quarantining rules, but apparently they can come to Wembley. No doubt Scipio's blasted helmet gives you immunity from Covid.Maybe it should be made available on the NHS.

This kind of hypocrisy and double standards makes my blood boil. I hope it does yours too

Come on lads, we’re 2 days away from our first final since 1966. Just agree to disagree and move on :)

Fine, the way it came across didn't appear like that.

    Enjoy your day.

As for Italian top cappers, I don't think there will be very many of them. The Italian support only tends to come out at the later stages. We went to the Italy v Bulgaria group match in Guimares in 2004 and there were barely 1,000 of them

    Hi Alan
I would have to say I'm disappointed for any fans of any country not being able to travel to watch their country in the euros.
England have been fortunate enough to have played at Wembley, we have been fortunate that Wembley was allowed to bid and host so many of the games.

Yes it was disappointing not being able to travel to Italy for our Quarter final, but we had terrific support.

Double standards has been the order of the day for the past 18 months to be fair.

This is the final and it's the fans and supporters that make this what it is, not the sodding government.
I'm not taking sides just trying to get some balance between a travelling fan and a restricting government that is trying and succeeding in dividing us.

Fans of all nation's are just like ourselves, that travel just as we do to support their team, let's not get mad at them for wanting and being allowed for a once in a lifetime experience to watch their team in a cup final.

Let's show some warmth and class by offering them a decent allocation.
Revenge is a dish best served cold as they say ?

I'm glad some Italians (and not just italian expats) have been allowed to go to the game. They will love it and help with the atmosphere. Some of them might even be loyal supporters who really deserve it (though given their pitiful away support and the country's corruption, probably only a small section of the 1,000). Not their fault their government didn't want a load of England fans bringing the Indian variant to Rome.

Strangely I thought we played Ukraine in Rome not Italy. I also think Ukrainian fans weren’t allowed in. Why not get that big chip off your shoulder?

    In reply to Brian Crofts:

Ironically I live in Ukraine and could have gone if I had gone there directly and not via England, where I had done my pre-flight test, my Day 2 test, Day 5 test to release (to get to the Croatia match) day 8 test, 5 days' quarantine, got calls from NHS test and trace on days 1,2,3,6,7 and 8 and had followed all the multifarious rules. Hence the big chip about mythical Italian top cappers being able to circumvent all of this. It is not just the legalised harrassment of Test and Trace (actually Serco) but also the cost of the stupid tests (£174 for 4 useless PCR tests). This is before even starting on the equally useless home tests which we have all been doing to get in

It is double standards. Yes, we want to be nice and cuddly and let the genuine Italian supporters in,. but it is still double standards, and yes it was the price Boris had to pay to keep the final at Wembley., but it is still double standards.

Who cares who they let in. This is a first in a lifetime for many England fans, and having an away following just makes the atmosphere better. Leave out the politics and such bullshit until the next elections (but don't forget what was said and done(or not!). Let's make Wembley the best Final experience that EUFA (and FIFA) have seen.
