EURO 2020

UEFA EURO 2020

Round of 16 Update

England have now qualified from Group D by finishing first on 7 points.

Our Round of 16 fixture will take place on Tuesday 29 June at Wembley Stadium where we will face the second placed team in Group F.

We are still awaiting final confirmation from UEFA on our allocation for this fixture.

We expect to hold the first sales window tomorrow once our allocation and category splits are confirmed, and, hope to be able to share these details with members as soon as we possibly can.

Can those of us who didn't apply in the original ballot apply for a ticket?

    In reply to Martyn Lote:

Should England progress to the Round of 16 and or Quarter Finals, we will conduct the ballots for these matches with all members who were originally successful for tickets, regardless of whether they returned them or not, due to the ambiguity over venues, travel restrictions and ticket refunds

This sounds like a ballot won’t be held, in line with the 70/20/10? Are you just going to have a free for all again with more access codes than tickets? Disappointing if so

Thanks for the response Peter but that doesn't actually answer my question.

    I've inferred quite the opposite.

I.e. I've taken it that there will be a sales window for those successful in a 70/20/10 ballot just like the first sales in all the other matches so far.

My guess is that if done fairly there should be tickets left to be balloted once the initial ballots for original purchasers have taken place. But that’s just a guess. Probably it will be a free for all at stupid o’clock with lots of cat 1 tickets in row ZZ upper tier available.

That point about cat 1 is not as far fetched as it might seem. My ticket for the Czech game was €185 cat 1 in row 13, block 516 behind the goal. In what world would that normally be counted as cat 1? But I’d take it for the R16 game, to be honest!

If people are successful in the ballot they should have a guaranteed ticket for a specified period of time. It’s not fair having to spend a whole day being attached to a laptop/phone waiting for an email with an access code to be told tickets go on sale within the hour on a first come first serve basis. I’m out all day tomorrow in an area with limited reception, chances are I’ll not see any email until late afternoon by which point it’ll be too late if the previous scrambles are anything to go by.

Team England have said previously that there will be a 70/20/10 ballot process involving only those members who had R16 tickets from the December 2019 sale. Once the ballots are complete and access codes are emailed to the successful members there will be a time period during which those members will be able to buy their tickets. It won't be first come first served. This time period will be short but I doubt whether it will be less than 24 hours in order to accommodate those people who are at work, travelling, or otherwise unable to get online.

For any tickets not taken up, there will need to be a second sale period which will be like that for the Scotland and Czech Republic matches. With some members having already bought tickets via the UEFA general public sale, this may affect the take up rate from the first sale. Team England will again be in the awkward position of having to make a judgement call about how many access codes to release in order to get the allocation 100% sold. This sale will be first come first served.

Only if our 2021 allocation is larger than the original December 2019 allocation OR if the second sale does not sell all the tickets, the process may be opened up to members who did not apply in 2019 or who applied but were unsuccessful.

That’s the big question. What is the allocation and what is the capacity for the game? We don’t know enough. I was confident earlier with 35 caps but starting to doubt it now. Originally I had a cat 3 allocated

    In reply to David Lilley:

Forgive my stupidity but if the Wembley allocation exceeds that of what we had in Dublin, does that effectively guarantee all those in group 1 a ticket regardless of whether they’re in the 70, 20 or 10% category?

    In reply to Lee Andrews:

Yes. There wouldn't need to be a ballot.

In that situation, I would also expect that members would be offered the same category that they had originally. I can't see any reason why the total number of tickets would be higher but those in any particular category would be lower, especially as UEFA can define the seat category boundaries in the stadium differently match by match as they see fit. What I expect doesn't always happen !
