UEFA EURO 2020

All Follow My Team Tickets Cancelled

Incredibly disappointing news, UEFA are cancelling all Follow My Team Tickets for the knockout games.

"

Considering the location for most knock-out matches is unknown until completion of the group-stage, and the existing significant travel restrictions, UEFA has decided to cancel and refund all Follow My Team tickets.

Importantly, the quota of Follow My Team tickets for the knockout stage matches will remain reserved for fans of the qualified teams, which will (subject to the rules of the respective fan clubs) still give them the opportunity to purchase tickets at a later stage, should their team progress and should travel restrictions permit them to reach the match venue at short notice."

I haven't renewed yet for 20-22, do you think there's any chance they will do a ballot only for current members, and disregard 18-20 members with tickets? So is it advisable I wait or renew now

    In reply to Tias Comber:

The FA has said all along that tickets for this tournament will only be made available to 2018-20 members and any ballots will be conducted based on the final 2018-20 caps records. When making this statement, they had in mind that further tickets might become available for ESTC members closer to the event. But this rule will now be applied to all cancelled tickets which will subsequently be released by UEFA if we progress to the knock out rounds.

Decent summary, hoping they get their heads around it soon and let us know. Absolute shambles UEFA. Had our money for 18 months and wouldn’t be surprised if the refund is even done in time for the start of the tournament given their usual lack of pace refunding post tournaments.

The main challenge for the ESTC here is surely the limited time between matches for them to allocate tickets, you would think they would choose an option which limits the amount of work they need to do immediately after a game and before the next one.

The easiest solution seems to me to allocate people the opportunity to purchase a ticket, based on any of the solutions Matt identified, and then enable those successful a small window the day after a game to purchase this ticket, with a possible second chance sale situation the day after.

Fans could well be in a situation where they're sat at the round of 16 game at either Wembley or Copenhagen, not knowing if they have a ticket to the Quarter final in which they would have to start travelling to possibly the next day or following day.

Very good points. Could the FA be set up to provide their own similar Follow Your Team option where people give their preferences for games they want to attend and take the money in advance? Kind of like what we have now just operated directly by ESTC. Probably no end of legal loopholes there but just a thought.

It's normally around 25% for UEFA capacity. So around 20K for Wembley, this will now be around 6-7K mark. I think for some games that many didn't apply, but some were way over that.

Thanks. I should be comfortable then. No idea why but a much smaller figure came to mind. Feel sorry for everyone effected.

Cant understand why a follow my team "England" ticket would be canceled due to travel considerations for a Semi Final Match to be played at WEMBLEY????

It's a shambles mate....people spet weeks stressing whether to return tkts or not....all the while UEFA must have had different scenarios in mind and could have given clear advance warning on the different uptions under consideration.

I know they left it as late as they could....to give a chance for covid to clear and perhaps get increased capacities.....but much clearer guidance to the fans was needed.

But then,we do rank at the bottom of their priority list.

    In reply to Anthony Simpson:

This is the system which was used in the original ballots.

Every member who applied for tickets was placed in the 70% / 20% / 10% according to their own caps record. Where 2-4 members applied on the same application, this meant that it was possible for some to be successful and some unsuccessful. If and only if some members were in the same ballot, they would be entered in the ballot as a single entry so that either all would be successful or all would be unsuccessful.

If you and your son both got tickets in the original allocation then either
    -  you were both in the 70%, or
    -  you were both in the same ballot and your number came up, or
    -  you were not in the same 70/20/10 category but you each got lucky independently of the other.

I would expect the same rule to apply for the re-balloting of the reduced allocation. This is an extract from the FA Bulletin of 20.8.19

If you plan to apply as a group with other Travel Club members and you all have different caps levels please be aware that each individual member will be reviewed separately. Some may be guaranteed tickets as a result of their caps level. Those who are not guaranteed tickets will be entered into a ballot (if the specific match is oversubscribed). If more than one of you in the group is entered into the ballot then every member of the balloted group will either be successful or unsuccessful.
