UEFA EURO 2020

Euro 2021 Tickets - stick or twist?

I've just read UEFA's latest reminder that the final date for optional return of tickets is 22nd April. Things may be a bit clearer by then, but who knows what the situation will be in June and July? So we could find ourselves still holding valid tickets for a knock-out match somewhere like St Petersburg, but be barred from travelling there and lose a few hundred quid. Are others planning to return any tickets or just keep fingers crossed? Having already booked accommodation for Middlesborough, I guess I'll stick and hope.

The UEFA website does, indeed, say that but it still leaves ESTC members with R16 / QF tickets hanging in the air. Is an R16 conditional ticket which might or might not take you to Dublin classed as a Dublin ticket for the purposes of being able to return it up to 26th April ?

Doesn't this mean if its moved from Dublin we get a refund if its follow your team?:

Additionally, we would like to inform you that in the event that a UEFA EURO 2020 match is moved to a venue which is more than 50 km away from the original venue, ticket buyers would be entitled to a full refund of the ticket price if they cannot or do not wish to attend.

Yes you may apply for a refund. You can also apply if it's cancelled or BCD.

This reminds me a bit of the kerfuffle in spring 2020 when people with 'follow my team' QF tickets tried to get a Fan-ID for St Petersburg. They weren't successful because the Russian authorities didn't regard a conditional QF ticket as a ticket to a match in St Petersburg. There was nothing about this in the Fan-ID FAQs because it had never occurred to the authorities that anyone would regard a conditional ticket in this light. In the end, the ruling was that a Fan-ID could not be requested until the ticket became unconditional for the St Petersburg match.

Today, some fans believe that a 'follow my team' R16 ticket is a ticket to a match in Dublin, for the purposes of refund deadlines, because it might take you to Dublin in certain circumstances. The UEFA FAQs do not clarify this issue. Possibly this is because it hasn't occurred to UEFA that anyone would regard a conditional ticket in this light.

I find myself thinking that if we are likely to lose the R16/ QF game, I should go, as if we win I may well have to self-isolate and miss the Wembley SF and Final. Kind of defeats the object,! go and see another classic extra time penalty gut- wrenching loss.... or win and face missing Englands greatest moments since 96/66.....

Just trying to digest everything on this thread. Is the following a fair summary for those with 'follow the team R16 & QF tickets'? : it maybe worth hanging onto the tickets as the games may get moved to England. We probably need to decide by the 22nd because there is a good chance these tickets won't be treated as Dublin tickets (albeit we aren't sure). We probably won't know if the games may be moved to England prior to having to make our decision. If the games are abroad, the quarantine rules are likely to be so restrictive that its highly unlikely a fan would be able to go. Thus it boils down to whether you risk losing your cash for England picking up further matches. Does that sum it up?
