Euro 2021 Tickets - stick or twist?

I've just read UEFA's latest reminder that the final date for optional return of tickets is 22nd April. Things may be a bit clearer by then, but who knows what the situation will be in June and July? So we could find ourselves still holding valid tickets for a knock-out match somewhere like St Petersburg, but be barred from travelling there and lose a few hundred quid. Are others planning to return any tickets or just keep fingers crossed? Having already booked accommodation for Middlesborough, I guess I'll stick and hope.

    Antony, if the Dublin game is moved more than 50km away then you will be entitled to a refund regardless of the deadline.

    However the second round game with the potential of maybe being at Wembley could be worth a punt. If it ends up still in Ireland or we have to go to Denmark or elsewhere then potentially there is time to return, isolate for 5 days, pay for a test to release and make it in time for the semi final should we get that far.

    What if you have to isolate or go into quarantine when you enter Ireland or Denmark ?

    A very fair point that I hadn’t even considered!
    To be honest Ireland is looking less and less likely to be a destination anyway now but Denmark are only just opening their borders and certain countries are likely to not have an isolation period but it’s unclear if that will include us at this point.

    Italy and Russia sound like these measures will be relaxed for the quarter final games but there’s no guarantee anything will be relaxed entering UK.

    Nevertheless it would make sense for UEFA, in agreement with the FA, to cancel all ESTC tickets for a game that we could not realistically travel to, and re-sell them locally. UEFA seem keen to get bums on seats at all games, so it would make no sense to have an empty block where 3000 or 4000 England fans would have been sitting. But it may be simpler just to let us sweat it out. I started this thread but I still haven't decided what to do. The idea of keeping the last 16 tickets and hoping for the best, but ditching the QF so we aren't quarantined during the semis, seems the least worst option. Of course, this is all predicated on England getting out of the group.

    Yeah me and Steve have been going round in circles on this over the last 24 hours. Went from cancelling both to just the QF and now debating whether to just risk it.
    As we can’t really book travel for any of these games due to the unpredictability of the tournament it’s purely down to ticket cost that’s at risk.
    Hold onto both and the best case is we manage both with a bonus game at Wembley if we top the group.
    Worst case we finish second or third and isolation makes travel impossible for those games.
    Big question is would you be happy to afford to risk the cost of those tickets. Managed to get some of the fans first tickets so appreciate the situation is different as they’re substantially cheaper but for me the risk of holding strong is probably financially worth the risk. QF alone maybe risking £65 for the chance of getting to see England in a Quater final is just about okay for me. Obviously the more tickets on the order the higher the financial risk becomes.
    If we’re out before the QF we get the money back anyway and for me there are just too many variables and unknowns in an ever changing horizon for me to make a decision that I would be happy with so I’m back to sticking where I am and running the risk.

    Looks as if I'll keep the last 16 and return the QF tickets. I've got tickets for both me and my daughter, so the money is worth getting back. Fingers crossed the last 16 will be at Wembley, but if not we may be able to make the trip to Copenhagen or wherever. The thought of doing both rounds with tests, self-isolation, transitting through third countries and so on, just doesn't seem worth the hassle.

    Just reading through the abve posts, I am struck by UEFA's Ts & Cs saying that the inability of a fan to attend the match because of quarantine or other host country entry requirements is not an accepted circumstance for a refund.

    This is absolutely outrageous given the fact that rules are changing in every country by the day. I am surprised more noise isn't being made about this. Nor about the fact that the refund deadline is before they announce their plans.

    Both of these are just attempts to justify what is in effect legalised theft, Par for the course with UEFA i suppose.

    As for us (all 3 outside the UK) we are sticking and seeing what happens. Coming second in the group would avoid playing Fance, Germany or Portugal in the second round, and would avoid the Dublin problem

    someone as put a email response from EUFA on facebook page and it says follow my team tickets can be returned up to the 26th for those 3 venues in doubt

    I am getting totally confused by all this, dont do facebook, dont do twitter, dont do snap chat or any other of those social media what ever you call them.
    If tickets are bought through the England Travel Club and should we win the group or come second and cannot travel to Dublin or anywhere else where these matches may be played due to goverment non-travel instuction do we get a refund on our tickets.

    In short the answer to that would seem to be no. UEFA don't, currently, seem to be allowing refunds due to non travel.

    Most people, currently, are more focused on what would happen if, say, Dublin becomes unviable as a venue. What happens then.

    Some (including me) think that we should be offered refunds.  The reasoning being that the venue would be > 50km away and even though Dublin is one of a number of L16 venues England could play at, these venues are critically fixed and adding a further one, not on this list, would mean a refund.

    Others feel that because the Dublin fixture is conditional on us qualifying (and qualifying in a certain position) we won't be entitled to a refund (for any knock out matches if the venue is changed).

    Thanks Matthew, In any sort of normal world these sort of decisions should wait until venues are actually CONFIRMED / WRITTEN IN STONE then a reasoned informative decision could be made.

    Matt....you were singing the praises of EF and the FSA......don't you think we should be hearing more from them? (No not looking for an argument) just my viewpoint.
