Euro 2021 Tickets - stick or twist?

I've just read UEFA's latest reminder that the final date for optional return of tickets is 22nd April. Things may be a bit clearer by then, but who knows what the situation will be in June and July? So we could find ourselves still holding valid tickets for a knock-out match somewhere like St Petersburg, but be barred from travelling there and lose a few hundred quid. Are others planning to return any tickets or just keep fingers crossed? Having already booked accommodation for Middlesborough, I guess I'll stick and hope.

    The deadline is 5:00 pm on Thursday (UK time) unless the R16 ticket is recognised as a ticket to Dublin, in which case the deadline is 1:00 pm next Monday (UK time).

    That's a very good summary except that we only know the current quarantine rules. Things may be different in a couple of months. So there is an extra dimension to the gamble in that we may be able to travel to and from overseas fixtures without having to self-isolate or quarantine.

    Thanks David. Interestingly, according to Uefa website in the faqs, St Petersburg may give a quarantine exemption for ticket holders (although that doesn't solve UK quarantine rules). Do we know if we can expect any more comms from ESTC/FA does anyone know before the deadline? I also wonder if England are in Rome for example and quarantine rules make attending impossible then surely it would make sense to refund England ticket holders and sell the tickets locally so it maybe that this isn't really the last chance for a refund I wonder.

    UEFA have a published refund policy setting out the conditions under which they will allow fans to return their tickets for a refund. The inability of a fan to attend the match because of quarantine or other host country entry requirements is not one of the accepted circumstances. We can never rule out the possibility that UEFA might have a sudden attack of common sense. But see this extract from the ticketing T&Cs :

    12.1. Ticket Holders are permitted to attend the relevant Match provided that:

    c. they comply with any and all entry requirements and/or acknowledgements (including any epidemiological acknowledgements, if required) in the context of COVID-19, as notified to them by UEFA;

    f. where the Ticket Holder travels to the Host Territory, they have complied with any requirements which are in place regarding entry into the Host Territory (including but not limited to any travel and entry requirements imposed under applicable laws and/or otherwise in the context of COVID-19)

    For the avoidance of doubt, UEFA Parties shall not be liable for any loss or damage suffered by a Ticket Holder should they fail to comply with the provisions of this Article 12.1 and/or, where required, fail to obtain the necessary documents.

    This is an odd one guys, that I dont understand. I thought you could only apply once for a ticket for each game , but does this mean different ?..

    If quarenteen rules apply to a specific country making it impossible to travel, would it be possible to claim that individual match ticket price back from your credit card company?

    I doubt it as they might ask if you were given the option of a refund. My opinion.

    General overview: top level advice is don't book a summer holiday abroad. Tournaments are my summer holiday.

    There's too much risk in not being able to go or quarantine requirements.

    It pains me greatly but we're dumping R16 & QF.

    Best advice is to return the quarter final game and hang onto the R16 ticket until the 26th April (the deadline for refunds for Dublin tickets has been extended until then) just incase the game is moved to London.

    Do you have a ticket for the R16 game in Dublin or do you, like me, have a ticket for England’s R16 game? I have a feeling that we won’t be able to claim a refund after the 22nd in this case!

    Living in Germany it pains me to say I need to cash in.......Got rid of 4 tickets in the first phase, so only Scotland, R16 and Final still held. But as it doesn't look like travel into UK will be possible I will now cash in the first two but keen the final 'just in case'......breaks my heart. But anyway we are all adults and can only make decisions on the information and details we have at this time. I do hope more England games are allocated to Wembley so as many ESTC members as possible can attend. If restrictions lift I will be in UK the following day. ETID

    I take it that we had tickets that were going to be played in either a or b or c or d or e.

    Hence why people took the gamble of covering some/ all the possibilities of a, b, c, d or e venues.

    These being the only possibilities at the time.

    For these possibilities now to potentially include venue 'x' is really something which should mean the ticket could be refunded.

    Who knows though?

    I’ve just de risked and cancelled R16 and QF. Feeling good, even if they move them to Wembley or my back garden I don’t care anymore!

    Yeah it’s such a minefield it really is.

    Not knowing the venues or the potential isolation/ travel restrictions makes it an impossibility to do anything but take a massive punt.

    I would be surprised if there’s no isolation protocol in existence 2 months from now unless they have some sort of ticket holder amnesty with proof of vaccination or negative test. Thing with the latter is even at the earliest a test to release needs 5 days before it can be done.
    This makes the quarter final particularly risky as a gamble with only a 4 day window between that and the semi.

    However the second round game with the potential of maybe being at Wembley could be worth a punt. If it ends up still in Ireland or we have to go to Denmark or elsewhere then potentially there is time to return, isolate for 5 days, pay for a test to release and make it in time for the semi final should we get that far.
