I would agree that Terms and Conditions shouldn’t be able to be changed after purchase. UEFA’s get out of jail card is they are offering a refund if you don’t like it...Morally wrong but perfectly legal I would venture...

I would imagine credit card companies have a completely different view of this. The product was not sold as described and so is invalid (if moved)- they will refund you from my experience of things last year. You can't fault them for standing up for the consumer in that instance.

Agree to an extent...Credit card companies will stand up for the consumer where a product isn’t sold as described and they will get your money back. However, in this case UEFA are already offering to refund if you don’t like their new terms and conditions. By not accepting the offered refund now, you are effectively accepting the new terms, so I would wager that Credit card companies would point to that as a reason for not refunding...
It would be an interesting challenge.

I’m trying to reach out to Dean Durham, consumer Lawyer!
We definitely require legal advice,it’s the last thing many of us need on top of what’s going on!
Regrettably UEFA seemingly will not refund us in good faith,by trying to supersede the contract we sealed when the transaction was made!
We have also only been given a short time to digest this new contract and get it legally appraised!
If there are any active FSF members on here,it would be an idea perhaps to engage the those at the top of that organisation as to what stance/activity they will take!
It seems UEFA have only limited insurance, and the common fan are the people who will be underwriting this corporate venture, all risk and no prospect of reward outside the right to watch a football match that we’ve paid for!
Their could be a risk free solution to this if ESTC are willing to embrace it,but that’s for another time!

I welcome the choice,as some fans will have had a change of circumstances/priorities,I don’t welcome UEFA unilaterally changing the contract!

They can do it by offering a refund if you don't agree with the new terms and conditions.

I would of thought with speculation that there’s only england France German and Russia with the facilities to stage it and with all 4 countries having high infection rates the chances of staging it with fans slim , also if they decided to stage it out of Europe if they can it would have to be somewhere with a low or no infection rate. And who would want fans jetting into there country

I reckon there will a few people making phone calls this weekend deciding whether as a group to cancel or not . Never thought he would be something I’d consider but when you have nearly £3500 tied up in tickets it makes you think

Which would be fair if we had until 2/3 weeks before the tournament to decide if we’re going to go,and can make an informed decision with as little risk as possible during an ever changing picture with the pandemic!
As it stands 5 of the games are at Wembley,I’ve got Cat 3’s for the other 2 and could reluctantly swallow losing €100 in that scenario, but there are other scenarios,if the tournament gets changed geographically and England doesn’t host,in a decision made in May,are we going to get further chances to cancel our tickets for a full refund, nothing I’ve read reassures me of that!
How about the tournament gets moved to Russia lock, stock and barrel?
The games are played in front of locals,it reads that we would lose our money, even if we can attend
the expense would rule me out, travel insurance may be obligatory and at prohibitive cost, that’s even if travelling is even allowed internationally, and we’ve even got a highly transmissible strain of the virus named after UK,is it really likely to have disappeared by then?
Thing is,I’m a realist and I realise we’re up against it,even watching the games at Wembley is unlikely, unless there is a sudden massive expansion on the vaccination front,I’ve taken my tone because of UEFA are leveraging a difficult decision from us at an impossible time,I’m happy for those who know they’re definitely unable to attend, getting a refund, but it’s impossible for the rest of us,we need a long window in which to make a decision,we should have an opportunity every time UEFA change the tournament materially or geographically, but I’ve not read anything to that effect!
Have I overreacted or misconstrued anything,I realise it’s possibly not the most important thing going on now!

I contacted a football journalist I know and he raised the matter with UEFA. They have issued the following response to him which gives some reassurance that UEFA would take into consideration the distance involved if they change a venue before deciding whether to enforce the no refund policy. I'm told that off the record they are saying they would not enforce it if it was in a different country but obviously that is not in the the T&Cs so please don't make a decision on what you do on the back of a discussion I've had with a journalist.

"Today all UEFA EURO 2020 ticket buyers have been informed that the ticketing terms and conditions have been updated to reflect the new match dates and also any potential impact of measures related to the COVID-19 pandemic for fans attending matches. All tickets remain valid. However, ticket buyers have the opportunity to return their tickets until 26 January 2021 (14.00CET). If existing ticket buyers return their tickets, they will receive a full refund of the ticket price before the end of February 2021.

There has been no change to the ‘change of venue’ part of the Refund Policy as the original version already allowed for this. The ‘change of venue’ provisions specifically rely on whether UEFA say the ticket is valid for the re-scheduled venue for the match and UEFA would take into account matters such as reasonable travelling distances from the original venue when making that determination.

Since the official postponement of the tournament last year this is the third time that ticket buyers have the opportunity to return tickets and request a refund. As already communicated last month, UEFA together with the 12 host cities is currently working on four operational scenarios for UEFA EURO 2020 (full stadium; 50-100% capacity with various mitigation measures; 20-30% capacity with various mitigation measures; and behind closed doors). Each host city together with UEFA will select 2-3 scenarios and develop plans accordingly in the coming weeks. A decision on which scenario will be applied individually in each city during the tournament will be made in March 2021."

So basically they want to keep your money by hinting you might get a refund if they move to Russia for example but actually they won't as Ts and Cs are in print

Thanks for reaching out to the journalist!

It's pathetic though that they liberate their actions by saying there has been no change in the change of venue policy, which is true but they have now included Pandemic in force majeure, which at this point in time, is like saying, if there is oxygen in the air, then supporters aren't entitled to refunds...
