    In reply to Terry Moore:

I’m pretty sure that ahead of March 5, UEFA are in consultation with respective Governments and FAs. There is no way that they can make any decisions without this consultation.
If UK has most of its citizens vaccinated by June, cases continue to fall, the better weather comes along and as you say Boris’s stance on ‘Britain is great’ then I feel that there is a great chance that games will go ahead at Wembley (and Glasgow for that matter). I don’t think capacities will be 100%, however I do think there will be some fans allowed.
I’ll be amazed if it’s moved to Russia given their worldwide ban, It’s too close to Germany 2024. France is way behind on vaccines...Will be interesting to see how it pans out, but I’m taking the risk and hanging on to my tickets as I see the cost as sunk. Appreciate that may not be the same for everyone as I’m fortunate to have been working throughout...

I'd also be surprised if the FA/Wembley relinquishes the ownership of 5 games, coupled together with the Hampden games. It just doesn't make sense to move those games which are already in "one" country and the vaccines are ahead of the curve.

Agree and also Wembley must have the biggest capacity of the stadiums so if it’s 10/20/50% capacity that’s more fans who can go!

    Hi Peter

I overlooked that this thread was in the fully open to the world part of the forum so subsequently deleted my advice.

I tend to stick to giving help and advice in the more paid up members only part of the forum.

That way only genuine ESTC members get this goodness and not any part timer, nosey neighbour, employer or local clown who might find you're away from your home on certain dates interesting.

Just my thought process over the years.

This is the more secure part:

    https://englandsupporters.thefa.com/travelclub/f/21

PS if you log off from this forum you'll see which threads (and sections) are visible to anyone. These same threads will appear on search engines..E.g If you search for 'Peter Sherwood England Supporters' all your posts on these open areas of the forum will be returned.

Probably not a biggy to most people but from an IT and cautious background that's my approach.

    Cheers

I’m convinced Government want it,saving lives and ramping up vaccinations as much as supply will allow it are their priority, but you just know Johnson will have it in the back of his mind how desperate the nation needs this tournament, with fans!
I can visualise a press conference where he sings a bit of ‘football’s coming home’,anyone lay me any odds on this?

As others have reported, UEFA has asked host associations to put forward a number of alternative sets of plans for the staging of matches. These scenarios are to consider various stadium capacity figures: closed doors, 30%, 70% full, etc taking into account the possibility that the government in the host country might be enforcing coronavirus related restrictions. The plans should also take account of possible restricted hotel availability and transport issues, especially country entry restrictions. These plans need to be with UEFA in time for a meeting scheduled on 5th March.

In reality, the situation regarding the pandemic is likely to be much improved by June. But UEFA cannot assume that this will be the case and cannot base their plans on this possibility. They must come up with a definite final format of the tournament at the March meeting based on the information supplied to them by the host associations. This will include decisions regarding which cities will host the matches and what crowd numbers will apply at each venue.

There has been talk in some quarters about the possibility that the whole tournament might be staged in one country. I would be astonished if this were the decision at the March UEFA meeting, given the noises coming out of UEFA recently.

Nobody on this forum believes that the matches are going to be staged before full crowds. Personally, I reckon UEFA will settle for 30% capacity crowds. So, UEFA will have to engage in a mass programme of ticket cancellations and refunds. Surely, before they cancel tickets against the wishes of the ticket holders they will first ask for volunteers. I therefore believe that 26th January will not be the final date when you can opt to cancel your tickets and obtain a refund. I expect that there will be another opportunity after UEFA has publicised the revised format of the tournament, when fans will know where and when the matches will take place.

When this further window of opportunity has closed, UEFA must decide which fans will have their tickets cancelled and refunded against their wishes. After the volunteers have had their refunds, I would expect UEFA to cancel the tickets of those fans most at risk of being unable to attend a match for which they have a ticket. So, this would probably mean that any fans resident outside the country where the match is taking place would have their tickets cancelled. Surely at least 30% of the tickets would have been sold to local residents. Then, it will be a bit arbitrary how the other unlucky fans are selected.

There would have to be an exception to the "home based only" rule for the semi-finals and final.

    In reply to David Lilley:

It’s intriguing,my logical thinking tells me,those of us applying through national associations as paying members are in a mutual double lock contract, which legally is a lot harder for the goods/service provider to break and arbitrarily cancel,as fans of ESTC we’re virtually guaranteed to keep our tickets if the stadium threshold is 30% or above,we have satisfied multiple layers of criteria to have been granted eligibility!

    In reply to Terry Moore:

Agree Terry, you’d like to think that people who have purchased tickets via eligibility through loyalty to their National Associations would be the last to have their tickets cancelled.
It would be disappointing if punters who were successful in random UEFA ballots were allowed to attend and we weren’t...

Henry winter had just tweeted - Uefa update on Euros: if a match "is moved to a venue which is more than 50km away from the original venue, ticket buyers would be entitled to a full refund of the ticket price if they cannot, or do not wish to, attend". #tickets #covid
