EURO 2020

UEFA EURO 2020

Lost passport advice

A few days ago I realised my passport is due to expire in April ( not even thinking of the implications it could have on my Euros tickets) and after applying for a new one, can’t find my original no matter where I look. Any advice as to how this could affect the Euros for me? If I apply for a new passport without being in possession of my original one which are in the UEFA database, am I screwed? Any help or advice appreciated.

Cheers

It shouldn't be a problem as all of your allocated tickets will be issued to your UEFA app, I've never known us to be required to show a passport to get into a tournament before. I'm not quite sure why they've even asked for it to be honest.

    In reply to Daniel Armstrong:

Is it likely that the passport number was used as the unique (or primary) key for applications to ensure that multiple applications were easily identifiable? Especially across the UEFA window and the UEFA/ESTC window.

E mail Eufa on the link you were sent when applying for tickets & they come back to you with a safe way of downloading a copy of your new passport to them. However, they don't accept it & change the details until your application is successful. I have to wait to do my lads.

Don’t worry about it as far as uefa is concerned, it’s used to identify you and check that you aren’t banned by the FA , it’ll be the same for uefa, so as long as it was valid when you applied you’ll be ok, you will have to change it for future applications. Have you looked down the back of the sofa.

Later this year you will download the Euro 2020 ticket app so that you can receive the match tickets to your mobile phone. When you register on the app you will be asked for certain personal details including your passport number. It could potentially cause problems if the number you enter does not agree with what UEFA holds in its database.

If you still know the number of your old passport, even though you cannot find the passport itself, you could enter this number when you register for the app.

Alternatively, inform UEFA and the ESTC of your new passport number and get them both to change their records. You'll have to do this eventually anyway.

As others have said, the passport number is probably used only as a unique personal identifier. In the relevant field in the UEFA ticketing database, it is permitted to enter either the passport number or the National ID card number. As far as I know, all European countries apart from Andorra, Denmark, Norway and the UK have National ID cards, either optional or compulsory. I assume that a citizen retains the same ID card number throughout life. So, where a fan registers for a UEFA ticketing account with their ID number, there is never a need to update the UEFA database and this probably explains why there isn't a facility for editing your passport number in your UEFA ticketing account.
