EURO 2020

UEFA EURO 2020

Thank you, Team England

I don't know about anybody else, but I've been impressed with the support offered to fans by Team England for the Euro 2020 ticket applications.

They produced a comprehensive set of FAQs which was updated when new information became available. They were also responsive to questions which cropped up on the forum. For example, when members didn't know how to request souvenir tickets, they found out the answer for us and added it to the FAQs.

They created a detailed step by step guide on how to complete the application, including screen shots.

They obtained a complete category split for every match : something which I don't think has been available for any previous tournament. Taken together with Matthew Isle's caps table posts, this has given members valuable information to help with their choice of ticket category. They also used ticket application reports from UEFA to give us updated advice on which matches and categories were under or over subscribed.

There have been no less than 9 'News & Announcement' bulletins explaining everything, with links, plus emails for those who don't visit the website very often.

Since 25th November, when the Kosovo caps were added, they've processed over 4100 applications to join the Travel Club including very many who only joined during the ticket application period. And they must have answered hundreds of email and telephone queries.

It's clear that Team England have put a lot of thought into identifying what help the fans might need and to giving us that help. Thank you, guys !

    Well said David.

Managing close to 21k of members is quite some feat - especially with such a small team.

And whilst they'll have moved on from one hefty piece of work they'll be onto their next now.

Year on year I'm more impressed with them and especially how they calmly answer our daft questions.

Talking of which, take some credit yourself David. You'll also have saved them loads of work answering stuff on here.

Most people probably won't be signing in here as frequently as they have been recently, so it's probably a good time to wish us all a happy Christmas, a healthy New Year and some success this Summer!

Here here to all the above, imagine if you had to rely on the Facebook page when half the posts were taking the piss, many thanks to the ESTC and all who helped make the process easier.

It's a truly dreadful page which is about a million miles away from what I imagine was originally planned for it.

    This deserves a bump.

I can imagine the ESTC staff have been incredibly busy sorting out the application data from UEFA and are just as busy now trying to wade through other issues.

Am sure those of us that were fortunate enough to get close to what we wanted - and those that the ESTC are trying to help now are very appreciative.

Hopefully they get a little breathing space between the Romania and N.L. announcements.

blogs: Tim Vickery: A World Cup in every sense

Two World Cup Finals are being replayed in this week’s 2014 semi finals. The Germans seek revenge for their 2-0 defeat in 2002 when they meet Brazil – amazingly only the second time these giants have ever met in the tournament. And Holland were the closest – so far – a European team has ever come to winning the World Cup in South America when they hit the post with almost the last kick of normal...

blogs: Sue Smith: England can bounce back

There’s no doubt England can bounce back – the women’s team did it after the 2007 World Cup by going all the way in Euro 2009. Although we lost against Germany in the final of those Euros, there was a sense of achievement and progress...

blogs: Graeme Le Saux: Cool-hand Luke can handle price-tag

Having a hefty price tag can weight heavy on your shoulders – it certainly did for me when I moved back to Chelsea in 1997 for £5.5m. At the time I was the most expensive English defender and there was a lot of pressure that came with that. I found it quite hard and Luke Shaw now finds himself in a similar position after moving to Manchester United for £30m. It does make you look at things differently...

blogs: Graeme Le Saux: It’s time to give England’s players a break

There’s no doubt England’s players will be disappointed with the way things panned out in Brazil, but they deserve a break after the mentally exhausting season they have all had. They’ll feel like they are coming home prematurely because going into these tournaments you always think that you’re good enough to progress, so to lose their first two games and be out of the World Cup this early will...

blogs: John Hemmingham: Fresh faces give us cause for hope

In my years following England I’ve seen some great players come and go – and teams rise and fall. I can say with pride that I saw every game David Beckham played for England and I have also been privileged enough to have seen all of Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard’s appearances. Watching the Costa Rica match it was hard to think that it might be both of their final appearances. I remember Gerrard...
