12/12/19 ESTC new advice for ticket categories

Please see the most recent advice in this link.

I'd suggest lots need to have a look at this and move categories over the weekend or else risk missing some games completely. In some cases these are games they are guaranteed for in the 70% IF they pick less ambitiously in their application.

"'Fans First' tickets are heavily oversubscribed" - Surprised there's not been much mention of these tickets. They are the Wembley front few rows on lower tier, and back few rows on top tier.

Sure you get into a match at a good price, but you'll hardly see anything.

I do realise some people like these seats ("close to the players" or "can see the overall game").

    In reply to Duncan Saunders:

    Duncan,

The "Fans First" and Category 3 tickets will be behind one of the goals. And I reckon there are, on average, around 100 seats in a row (before they get classed as being in the corner and therefore Category 2).

So that means the 3546 "Fans First" tickets will be spread across about 35 rows. That makes rough sense given there are 3594 Category 3 tickets which will therefore be spread across a similar number of rows.

Sure, with "Fans First" tickets, you could be in the first few rows on the lower tier or back few rows on the top tier. But, equally, they might be in a pretty decent location. Just the luck of the draw!

Hi Matt, Wondering if you can give me some advise? On 58 caps I'm certain I'll be fine for all games but my brother is on 28 and can only make the Croatia game and the final. He will be fine on my application (I'm not prepared to move cats) for the Croatia game and I thought he'd be fine for Fans First for the final as on 28 caps he is in the top 3435 capers and there are 3594 fans first tickets available. However the update yesterday says on 28 caps and below to go cat 3 and tick the box to be prepared to move cats. I emailed them on Wednesday saying I can't get my head around it and to ask for their advise but have had nothing back as of yet. I've seen on another thread that the 70/20/10 has been confirmed over the phone to being done per game as opposed to per category which doesn't add up to me from their advise on the last post. Any advise would be welcome. Cheers

Right here goes - my thoughts.

Note that I won't be answering any other/further specific cap questions - it's too time consuming (I've had stacks of direct messenger questions too!!!!) and these are only my thoughts - not fact.

I'd suggest others use the methodology below if they think this is sound.

Ive updated the 70% thread. The membership is still growing. Members are still upgrading and joining.

    englandsupporters.thefa.com/.../14306

I think the ESTC staff are taking the figures they know now and using their experience to extrapolate what might be the case come the end of the application period.

I'd guess they're keen not to give bad advice so are being responsible in erring on the side of caution else they'll have members going bonkers at them.

So they need to give themselves some wiggle room for this and for other scenarios I've not considered.

    The maths for the Final:
    Total tickets 10,612 (1618+1854+3594+3546)
Checking the table for now (i.e. not application close date) for 70% you're mate on 28 caps is well within the 70% (4914) to be guaranteed a ticket if he picks an available ticket cat.
It sounds as though you won't accept other cats (i.e. you haven't ticked the box) so only 3546 tickets are available to you in the Fans First cat.
There are currently 3440 members on and above your mate on 28 caps.
There are currently around 200 ESC members who COULD upgrade to ESTC and take over your 28 capped mate (dozens are upgrading daily)
Call that 3640 members potentially above him.
If some/all apply for Fans First and they are allocated down the caps table he is ticketless.

I'd suggest you give yourself wiggle room too if your mate truly wants to go and can afford it.

Missing a final would be unimaginable in my book.

    Good luck.

Adam get your mate to apply separately so he can go up a category (if required) and then link your applications

4914 is the number of tickets needed for someone on 28 caps to be in the 70%.

Yes I see that I’m on 24 caps the figure for me to be in the 70% is 5839 or was on the 10th if I select fans first also but tick the box to go up to cat 3 will I be safe for a ticket for final and semi just don’t want to tick Cat 3 then end up with cat 2 if I don’t need to

    In reply to Doug Fenner:

Yer you’d think with us being on 24 & 22 we will be fine picking fans first and ticking the box to go up to cat 3 , if 28 is the cut off or there about for fans first then surely we will get a cat 3 4998 being the figure to be in 70% for fans first and cat 3 . There is 4475 on 22 caps and above and 4090 on 24 and above even more esc joining estc won’t affect us getting a cat 3 . Think that’s right fingers crossed

Yer Adam just feel if I select cat 3 and tick box I’m on 24 caps my sons on 32 they might give me cat 2 massive difference in money . My sons certain for a fans first but with being with me on the application I’d of thought we will be fine for cat 3 picking fans first and ticking the box mathematically anyway ??
