EURO 2020

UEFA EURO 2020

Category splits

Announcement made today says all Wembley games under subscribed only advice given regards Wembley is for fans first being over subscribed..looks to me that cat 3 for groups is oversubscribed 7880  applied for cat 3  50% of 12000 = 6000 - 30% leaves 4200 for those in the 70% guaranteed a tick in cat 3 I know they said we could get over 50% but even so ? Last 16 and q/f under 5000 applied over the 3 category’s so far , suppose people are going to miss out if they pick wrong category am I right here ok both instances .

Exactly Damien wouldn’t like to select fans first tick box to accept higher category ie 3 . Then miss out as the fa are advertising that anyone on less than 30 caps select cat 3 and tick the box to accept a ticket either side ?? I would want to do that then be moved up to cat 2 and pay more as it’s a big hike . Put also would not like to follow fa advice and miss out

    Hi David,
Am I right in thinking that cat 3 for the group games, semis and final at Wembley are all under subscribed? Surely this is too good to be true for someone like me on 8 caps ! I would have though that more than 7000 people would have applied for either fans first or cat 3. I’ve selected cat 3 with option to go to cat 2 (I was expecting to have to go for cat 2 with option to go to cat 1 but the cat 1 prices are ridiculous!)

Isn’t there only around 2k cat 3 tickets for rd16? Would withdraw the caps cut off be for that. I’m on 35 and other 2 in group are on 31? The advice was 44 and below to go for different cat wasn’t it?

Wembley games are all undersubscribed. I can't see anything about cat 3 specifically.

Combination of not all members applying for all games and not all members applying at all (a load joined just for the Nation's League).

Added to the fact we may get returns from any opposition and the Footballing Family it's positive indeed.

Thanks Matt, appreciated mate. That’s cheered me right up! I’ll keep an eye out for the FA update on Monday but hopefully nothing changes! Already sorted for Dublin through Uefa so fingers crossed we win the group

Thanks Matt. The FA’s advice in their latest email was for all members with less than 30 caps to apply for cat 3 with option to be moved....this makes it sound like cat 3 isn’t oversubscribed which I find amazing for the semis and final! I’ll wait and see what they say on Monday but if any of you know I’m wrong in the meantime if would be good to know.....

Apologies if this has been discussed previously however I have been informed by a friend that you can choose the option of a higher category ticket for some games but not all. My understanding is that you can only choose to be upgraded for all of them, or none of them..?

My situation is that I will also be applying for my 2 boys (each on 10 caps) as well as me on 20 caps. Due to UEFA not offering child prices, I could in theory end up with 3 x Cat 2 tickets for every game which would cost me thousands of rounds! I simply cannot afford to risk that however I would be prepared to go up to Cat 2 for one or two games, just not all of them.

    thanks in advance

You're correct your mate is wrong

    See the FAQ

Note that you can be upgraded and downgraded by one cat.

This is also working on the assumption that everyone that is going to apply, has done so. I haven't as of yet but will do in the next day or so.

    In reply to Matthew Isle:

What would happen to any unbought tickets would be a guess though as that would need to be agreed by UEFA and the ESTC team.

For those of you intending to apply, who haven't applied yet, I'd definitely encourage you to do so soon so that UEFA and the ESTC team can help us to help ourselves.

    In reply to Matthew Isle:

    Thanks. I thought as much.

I think it's unfair how they've split the cheapest category for the final and SF into 2 different categories, which in effect halves your chances of a ticket unless you are willing to upgrade. I can't justify paying £885 for 3 x Cat 3 tickets to the Final so will have to stick with Fans First only, which pretty much means we've no chance (and have been priced out of going).

I've just phoned Team England. They confirmed that they do ONE 70%/20%/10% exercise for each match. When the successful applicants have been identified they then allocate them to categories, giving preference to the higher cappers for first choice of category. They don't do a separate 70/20/10 for each category.

blogs: Graeme Le Saux: Youth or experience for second Miami test?

The game against Honduras tonight is the final chance for a player to stake their claim for that World Cup opener against Italy next Saturday, and warm-up matches are key - just look at Michael Owen at France 98. The build-up to this tournament and that one 16 years ago is similar in many ways because there was a lot of experience in that England squad that I played in, and Michael really burst onto the scene. It was...

blogs: David Stone: Marvellous Miami is just like I pictured it

I've been to the US a few times before, but Miami really lives up to every cultural stereotype you can think of. It's big, bright and brash, not to mention full of hordes of identically-dressed, beautiful people. I’ve been to watch the Miami Marlins, the city's baseball team, in a local derby against the Tampa Bay Rays. While the stadium itself was two-thirds empty, the dozen or so England fans there...
