EURO 2020

UEFA EURO 2020

Payment on credit card blocked payment

Had a issue in 2016 when uefa tried to take payment for my tickets Barclay MasterCard blocked the payment and uefa had stated that it would only try once to take the payment.. fortunately a lot of people had the same issues . So Englandfans sorted it thankfully. Is this still the case will they just try once !! I’ve just applied and received a new 0% credit card with nationwide where I pay no interest . I got some petrol on it last week no probs then tried buying a coat online and they blocked the payment so I’m worried it’s going to happen again , I phoned nationwide up to explain and they said ring 24hrs before I pay for tickets and it will go through but we won’t know when they are going to take the payment.. I have another credit card I can use but who’s to say that won’t get blocked does any know

No, if you read the FAQ it states that if you’re application is successful you will be sent an email with a link that takes you to a payment page and you enter your card details yourself, if your payment fails then you’re able to try another card.

Don't worry, Anthony. The payment system is different this time around. You don't put your payment card details on to the application form and UEFA don't try to claim the money as soon as your application has been declared successful.

When you have received an email from UEFA saying that your ticket application has been successful, you will be sent an internet link to a payment screen. You will then have a time limit (probably around 10 days) to pay for the tickets in the same way that you would pay for anything else on the internet. Within this time frame, you can choose to pay when it is convenient for you. If your payment is rejected, you can try again on another day or use a different card.

You can use any Visa or Mastercard credit or debit card.

blogs: Graeme Le Saux: adaptability and focus will be key on the Manaus pitch

I’ve played on some shocking pitches in my time – I remember playing for Chelsea in ‘the battle of Stamford Beach’ against Charlton back in 2003 and the condition of the surface can often play into your favour if you’re the home side. There may be a slight advantage for the South and Central American sides, but for England against Italy it is a level playing field – pardon the pun...

blogs: Tim Vickery: Italy’s tropical trials could lend a hand to England

A few days ago I was on the Rio underground when someone came up to me to give me his World Cup predictions. He recognised me from my appearances on Brazilian TV, and he wanted to tell me that there were two teams that were going to spring a surprise in the World Cup: France, and England. Many in Brazil lost patience with England after South Africa 2010. The feeling over here before that tournament was that England...

blogs: David Stone: Not even the mighty Amazon can hold us back

I've been back in England for a few days now and had the chance to reflect on what was yet another cracking away trip with the Three Lions. The Honduras game, as many predicted, was a very tough affair with the referee offering England limited protection against some rather nasty tackles. The result, while disappointing, did not particularly matter to be honest. It was far more important that England had a good...

blogs: Tim Vickery: Protests vie with World Cup feelgood for centre stage in Brazil

Last Sunday I commentated on the match between Italy and Brazilian club side Fluminense, staged in Volta Redonda, a hundred miles or so outside Rio. The match kicked off at 5.30pm in the afternoon. I arrived at the ground six hours earlier - and already there were plenty of supporters gathering. Many of them were Fluminense fans. Others had Italian affiliations. But lots had come (and at the equivalent of nearly £30...
