Allocations v categories

From the EUFA site we get 50% of the numbers below, so minimum 6,000 for last 16 & Qtr. Final, sorry to be a bit thick, wheat is the minimum caps to get cat 3 ticket?

I am on 26 caps, and have applied for lowest category with option ticked to accept 1 level higher

Group stage: Copenhagen (14,000 tickets for supporters of participating teams)

Group stage: Amsterdam, Baku, Bilbao, Bucharest, Budapest, Dublin, Glasgow and Saint Petersburg (20,000 tickets)

Group stage: Munich, Rome (24,000)

Group stage: London (28,000)

Round of 16: Amsterdam, Bilbao, Bucharest, Budapest, Copenhagen, Dublin, Glasgow and London (12,000)

Quarter-finals: Baku, Munich, Rome and Saint Petersburg (12,000)

Semi-finals: London (24,000)

Final: London (26,000)

    According to the FA bulletin, we are getting 5000 tickets for the R16 and QF. The other 1000 tickets go to the FA's 'football family'.

    UEFA have issued a bulletin saying that over half of all tickets for the tournament will be category 3.

    On this basis, even if all current Travel Club members were to apply for tickets, the 70% caps cut-off would be around 27 caps. So you're almost nailed on to get a ticket. If 2500 of the tickets are category 3 then this only goes down as far as 34 / 35 caps. But, I don't expect the take up for R16 and QF tickets to be as high as for the Wembley matches because of the difficulty and expense of arranging travel to a destination somewhere in Europe at a few days notice.

    I would say you can be confident if you apply for category 3 with a willingness to be moved to category 2.

    Hi David, there seems to be an assumption across all the posts on this subject that all high cappers will go for cheapest category 3. Do you know if this has historically been the case? I can see why they would due to the astronomical cost of Cat 1/Cat 2 SF and Final tickets but surely there are people with plenty of cash willing to pay whatever for a better seat.

    My dilemma is i'm buying for me and my son so was planning on going for Cat 2, I dont really want to opt for Cat 1 as the cost would be ridiculous for an 8 year old. If I really dont stand a chance in the Cat3/Cat2 ballot (we are only on 4 caps) then this will probably mean I only apply for group stage tickets. Doesn't look like we are going to get a Category breakdown either does it?

    It's really only the ESTC staff who will know whether the category 3 tickets usually all get snaffled by the high cappers. Their FAQs advise low cappers to apply for category 2 or 1, which suggests that this is the case.

    As you say, it's largely a matter of price. The section of the stadium reserved for ESTC members is likely to be most / all of the area behind one goal, going in an arc round the corner, and then up as far as the 18 yard line. It is unlikely that we will get any closer to the half way line than that. This means that category 1 seats, goal line to 18 yard line, are hardly much more attractive than other categories and not really worth the additional cost. Category 2 seats are in the corners, which is less attractive than behind the goals, and I'm baffled as to why these areas command a higher ticket price.

    As regards a category breakdown, this is rather annoying. UEFA are going to have to give the FA a complete and accurate breakdown for every match after the sales window closes so that the FA can conduct their ballots and allocate successful members to ticket categories. So, why can't they make this information available while the sales window is still open ? But, no, I doubt we'll get any more information on splits than we already have.

    In my experience the vast majority of higher cappers definitely want the cheapest of tickets.

    Yes there are a rare few who want the more expensive tickets for varying reasons but...

    The vast majority of top and high cappers aren't moneyed gentry they are ones who've made lots and lots of sacrifices over the years to get there.

    Hence their keenness to get the best price category and hence the ESTC teams keenness to reward their first choice.

    Not a rant by the way - just trying to put some flesh on the bones.

    Being a 'top capper' the money saved on Semi and Final tickets €300 ish pays for transport to either R16 or QF or maybe both if lucky.

    Hi David is that why you couldn’t give me a concrete answer yesterday as to wether I had enough caps on 24 for fans first and cat 2 as I’m on the border line and steve is on 26 caps and probably will get all tickets if he selects cat 3 . I’m probably gonna tick box to accept other category’s and pick cat 3 for groups . Cat 2 for last 16 & q/f . Just carnt decide over semi final and final .. if I pick fans first I could miss out wish I could work it out

    Some information from the Belgian FA on category splits.

    It doesn’t cover Fans First unfortunately, but says they’re getting:

    40% Cat 3

    25% Cat 2 and

    35% Cat 1

    Can you see if these splits are for all their group games/L16/QF?.

    Just checking and Belgium play in St Petersburg x 2 and Copenhagen in their group games. You'd have thought that category splits would vary due to the design of the different stadia.

    But if we get those splits it's certainly different to the 'at least 50% of tickets will be cat 3' message from UEFA so far and will certainly mean some members will need to tweak their applications due to less cat3s and cat2s than maybe expected

    You’re welcome. It doesn’t break it down by game; just says that’s the indicative split, but a ‘supplementary category will be available for final and semi-final’.

    If this is true, what a joke...35% of tickets in cat 1 for the final would mean 35% of tickets costing £950 each

    Obviously we don't know if this affects us yet, but say it does; for our potential games in Dublin and Rome and the respective allocations, my group on 35, 33 and 31 caps have applied for Cat 3 with a willingness to be moved up, is this a safe option?

    Under the '50% Cat 3' we were led to believe, I felt very comfortable doing this, but not so much if Categories 3 and 2 only take up 65% of the allocation.

    Would anyone be able to advise on whether I should switch this? Or is it likely to be fine? As given we're guaranteed a ticket, it'd be rather annoying if we missed out altogether due to category splits.

    Firstly, as it stands, you and your mates should be guaranteed tickets, if you select the correct category.

    Working off the 31 capper you all fall into the top 70% even for the 5k games.

    Again, off the 31 capper, around 2900 members are on this level and above.

    You can then use the link for the ground allocations in this link.

    Hence working off the VERY worst scenario (no extra tickets and every member above you goes for cat 3) you'll be able to work out that 65% (that's the 40% in cat 3 + 25% in cat 2), you have applied for within, of 5k is 3250.

    So yes you'll fall into the these still.

    However I suggest you take these calcs and figures with a big pinch of salt until we get some more official advice as we're not 100% sure the method of how these tickets will be allocated.

    But I would keep your eye on the thread I've referred you to as Ill keep updating this during the application period as membership levels change.
