Hi Matthew, me and my son have 4 caps so obviously will be in the 30% ballot. I was planning to apply for Cat 3 / Cat 2. Do you think this would leave me a very slim chance of securing any tickets?

Difficult to know without any ticket breakdown but those categories are ones that our group are going for and we're on 52-24 caps.i.e. much, much higher than you.

Obviously difficult to know your budget and priorities but I'd be tempted to apply for 1/2s on those levels and await any clarification on ticket cat breakdown and then amend your application accordingly.

Where can I find the breakdown of allocation for each category? The above only shows the overall allocation.

Thanks Matthew. So basically if the 4 of us apply together chances are only 3 of us will be successful? I think that's what we were expecting anyway.

Does making different applications then grouping the groups together make any real difference to applying all together? I think we are all just going to do the lowest categories with no option to move up because if we get final tickets but get moved up it would be a killer. Thanks.

Seems to be kind of vital information if you’re mid table capper trying to work out which category it’s best to apply for.

Two weeks to apply Luke. Plenty of time to receive this info.

Maybe apply in the next few days and then amend the application bid needed later?

Matthew, is there any benefit in applying now and amending later as you suggest, over just waiting longer for more details then applying accordingly?

Applying in the next few days (not now as it'll be bonkers at 10am) at least you have an application in. So if that worries you then it's out the way.

You can then worry about moving cats/accepting cats later when you have a little more info

UEFA have said that Cat 3 and fans first will be identical seats, just the fans first ones are cheaper. They havent said how many are allocated to this fans first bracket yet.

Saying I cannot apply for tickets as I am too young, seems a bit ridiculous as I turn 18 2 weeks after the application phase ends? Is there anyway around this?

One interesting point that Team England have said, only the lead booker will recieve the payment link once allocated tickets. So the lead booker will be paying for the whole groups tickets, and the whole allocation will need to be paid for the whole group by the lead booker, or you will forfeit the tickets. So its worth making sure the whole group is able to afford the maximum your tickets could come too or you risk the whole group having to forfeit their tickets.

blogs: Graeme Le Saux: adaptability and focus will be key on the Manaus pitch

I’ve played on some shocking pitches in my time – I remember playing for Chelsea in ‘the battle of Stamford Beach’ against Charlton back in 2003 and the condition of the surface can often play into your favour if you’re the home side. There may be a slight advantage for the South and Central American sides, but for England against Italy it is a level playing field – pardon the pun...

blogs: Tim Vickery: Italy’s tropical trials could lend a hand to England

A few days ago I was on the Rio underground when someone came up to me to give me his World Cup predictions. He recognised me from my appearances on Brazilian TV, and he wanted to tell me that there were two teams that were going to spring a surprise in the World Cup: France, and England. Many in Brazil lost patience with England after South Africa 2010. The feeling over here before that tournament was that England...

blogs: David Stone: Not even the mighty Amazon can hold us back

I've been back in England for a few days now and had the chance to reflect on what was yet another cracking away trip with the Three Lions. The Honduras game, as many predicted, was a very tough affair with the referee offering England limited protection against some rather nasty tackles. The result, while disappointing, did not particularly matter to be honest. It was far more important that England had a good...

blogs: Tim Vickery: Protests vie with World Cup feelgood for centre stage in Brazil

Last Sunday I commentated on the match between Italy and Brazilian club side Fluminense, staged in Volta Redonda, a hundred miles or so outside Rio. The match kicked off at 5.30pm in the afternoon. I arrived at the ground six hours earlier - and already there were plenty of supporters gathering. Many of them were Fluminense fans. Others had Italian affiliations. But lots had come (and at the equivalent of nearly £30...
