EURO 2020

UEFA EURO 2020

Follow my team - Euro 2020

Hi all,

This is the first tournament (Nations League aside) where I have followed England. I noticed a few people talking about a follow my team package for the World Cup in 2018. Is this normally in place for the Euro's? If so, any idea if I would be able to apply for it in the next sales phase?

Thanks

In the general public sale phase of the World Cup ticket sales, FIFA made available a "follow my team" ticket bundle. You got a ticket to each of your team's group matches. Then, you followed them through the knock out rounds. If your team was knocked out, you got a ticket to follow the team that beat them, all the way to the final. UEFA does not offer a similar "follow my team" ticket bundle for the Euros.

During the December sales window for Euro 2020 tickets, when tickets are available to the registered fans of the participating teams, UEFA allows the various FAs some freedom about how they market their tickets. It is permitted for an FA to sell a "follow my team" bundle to their fans, although it stops as soon as your team is knocked out.

Our English FA does not sell such a "follow my team" bundle. Instead, you must apply individually for each group match and each knock out round. If you want to follow the team all the way then you need to be successful in the allocation / ballot for each of the 7 individual matches / rounds.

The FA’s FAQs say that we can buy Follow My Team through them www.thefa.com/news/2019/11/25/14/04/euro-2020-faqs.

Which begs the question, is it better to apply for this apply for all seven games separately.

I tried to put up a thread about this but it went into moderation and hasn't emerged. On some of their web pages, UEFA use the term "follow my team" ticket just to mean a conditional ticket for one of the knock out rounds. But in the ticketing terms and conditions it is defined as a ticket bundle, i.e. several tickets sold together as a single product. I believe that the "follow my team" tick box on the online ticket application is for a "follow my team" ticket bundle.

I'm not convinced that the FA are actually offering a "follow my team" ticket bundle and I would like them to clarify the situation. If they are offering such a bundle then I would advise members not to apply for it. Why ?

#1 If the FA sell a ticket bundle of 7 tickets including all group matches and knock out rounds then, if you are successful in the allocation / ballot, you will get all 7 tickets. But if you are unsuccessful in the allocation / ballot then you will get no tickets !!!!! And you wouldn't be able to apply for anything else on the same application as the 7 ticket bundle would use up your 7 ticket application limit. Imagine getting no tickets.

#2 If the FA are going to set aside a number of tickets from each match to bundle them together into a "follow my team" bundle, I don't expect that they will set aside many tickets for this purpose. So members who apply for such a bundle might be competing for a small number of ticket packages. The caps cut-off could be high.

#3 As the "follow my team" ticket bundle would be a single ticket application for a single ticket product, I would expect that you would only be able to specify 1 ticket category. I doubt you would be allowed to select a different ticket category for each match.

I am going to apply for each of the 7 matches separately. I won't be applying for a "follow my team" bundle with a 10 foot pole.

With just 1 week to go to the start of the ticket sales window, the ticketing terms and conditions for fans of participating teams have still not been published. What follows below are extracts from the Euro 2016 ticketing terms and conditions.

Follow My Team or FMT (if applicable)

a package of Tickets for all the UEFA EURO 2016™ group stage Matches or for all the UEFA EURO 2016™ group stage Matches and some/all knockout Matches (conditional on the Team’s advancing) played by a particular Team.

3.12. Requests for FMT Tickets of the relevant Team can be submitted for: (i) all UEFA EURO 2016™ group stage Matches; (ii) all UEFA EURO 2016™ group stage and round of 16 Matches; (iii) all UEFA EURO 2016™ group stage and up to quarter final Matches; (iv) all UEFA EURO 2016™ group stage and up to semi-final Matches; or (v) all UEFA EURO 2016™ group stage and up to final Matches.

3.7. Only if demand for Tickets exceeds the supply of Tickets in respect of any Match, Ticket Type, and Price Category, as requested by the Applicant, Tickets will be allocated to Applicants by the relevant Allocation Method, subject to the rules set out under this Article 3.7. A Request for Ticket(s) for an Applicant for different Matches by way of the relevant Allocation Method can be: (i) fully accepted, (ii) partially accepted or (iii) fully rejected. For the avoidance of doubt, the FMT Ticket can be only (i) fully accepted or (ii) fully rejected. It is understood that the Request for Ticket(s) made by an Applicant for the same Match will be either fully accepted or fully rejected but will never be partially accepted.

Note also that FMT tickets were only available in 2016 in categories 1 and 3. This meant there was no opportunity to be moved to an adjacent category if your first choice was oversubscribed.

The FA did not offer a FMT package in 2016. You had to apply separately for each match. Are the FA really offering a FMT package this time round, as the FAQs seem to suggest ?

The FAQs have been amended to remove reference to Follow My Team. The situation is as we expected it to be. Members must apply separately for each match they want to attend, both in the group stage and for the knock out rounds.

Well done, the FA, for clearing up this matter before the tickets go on sale.

Hi David will we still be applying for conditional tickets for the knock out rounds assuming we get that far. Otherwise how do we know what R16 game to apply for , for instance?

Yes, we will still be applying for conditional tickets to the knock out rounds. These tickets will take us to whichever match we qualify for.
