EURO 2020

UEFA EURO 2020

UEFA selling duplicate tickets

Hi there,

Bit of an odd one but I was at the England/Denmark match with my dad and had bought the tickets through UEFA's ticket portal and 2 men said we were in their seats. Upon checking ours and theirs we had exactly the same ticket but in different names (they'd bought the tickets on the portal too) . We showed the steward who didn't have a clue what had happened but it ended up we had to share 2 seats between all 4 of us.

Around 5 minutes later the same thing happened again to 3 people sat next to us and another 2 people claiming they were in their seats but all had duplicate tickets and all bought from UEFA's ticket portal.

I'm just wondering if this has happened to anyone else as it's annoying that we all paid the full price and UEFA have sold the tickets twice over?

Many thanks in advance

    An interesting post.

We got to our seats just before the anthems and they were taken.

We thought it was because the match had more or an away 'sit where you want' feel so after a bit of a kerfuffle (we dismissed some protestations that they were 'their' seats) and got them to shift over / drop down a row.

Luckily any ill feeling was dispelled by the scenes at the end.

You'd have hoped the UEFA ticketing system and the Wembley gates are even slightly sophisticated enough to know when a ticket has been used once already?

I wouldn't make too much noise about this until after the final or some poor person may find their tickets get cancelled if UEFA were to find out they had made the same mistake for the final.

    In reply to Matthew Isle:

I did wonder if it had happened to others or that it was just on block 505.

From the amount of money UEFA make you'd think there wouldn't be a possibility of duplicate tickets or maybe it was purposely done to look as though they'd stuck by the numbers and get double the money?

I had a look online and couldn't find anyone with the same issue so I'm pleased it wasn't just us or if you were the guys that had the same tickets as me this is a huge coincidence haha!

    In reply to Graham Morrison:

If they were I'll need to ask them where they got them from haha! They showed us the tickets from the portal and their confirmation email so looks like it's UEFA's error.

Some guys were in our seats 15 minutes before the game but eventually moved and mumbled something about the wrong block, although they didn't show us their tickets. Also someone bundled themselves through the turnstile with one of our group to get in without a ticket.

blogs: Graeme Le Saux: Youth or experience for second Miami test?

The game against Honduras tonight is the final chance for a player to stake their claim for that World Cup opener against Italy next Saturday, and warm-up matches are key - just look at Michael Owen at France 98. The build-up to this tournament and that one 16 years ago is similar in many ways because there was a lot of experience in that England squad that I played in, and Michael really burst onto the scene. It was...

blogs: David Stone: Marvellous Miami is just like I pictured it

I've been to the US a few times before, but Miami really lives up to every cultural stereotype you can think of. It's big, bright and brash, not to mention full of hordes of identically-dressed, beautiful people. I’ve been to watch the Miami Marlins, the city's baseball team, in a local derby against the Tampa Bay Rays. While the stadium itself was two-thirds empty, the dozen or so England fans there...
